Darth Vader knobs.
The ION features an ergonomic user interface with 3 variably-illuminating control wheels and 31 amply spaced control knobs. The knobs are 360 degree potentiometers with 12-bit resolution, yielding 32 times the resolution of a typical MIDI controller, yet still compatible with the latest sequencers via NRPNs (Non-Registered Parameter Numbers). The result is extraordinary precision—void of any undesirable digital artifacts—and a very “analog” sound throughout the entire frequency range.
A 160x160 graphic display provides instant visual feedback as a parameter is edited. The ION keyboard contains 49 velocity-sensitive keys, 4 analog outputs and 2 stereo analog inputs (all balanced and using 24-bit conversion), 4 individual insert effects, a stereo master multi-FX processor, and an internal universal power supply.
Developed by a world-class sound design team, many of whom programmed the flagship Andromeda synthesizer, the ION’s 512 user-rewritable presets cover a variety of genres, including many exciting new tonalities, as well as classic synth emulations. New sounds will also be available from the Alesis website, as will a Flash demo of the ION.

"The Paraphonic is a beautiful and vintage sounding machine. It's great for strings, sweeps, pads, and big bass. Has that big 70's Roland Sound.
It combines strings, a basic polysynth section and a bass section. The keyboard is split down the middle to allow you to assign different sounds to the left and right sides of the keyboard.
The Synth section has a number of waveforms which can be assigned to the different sections of the keyboard. Has its own VCF with cutoff and resonance sliders, VCA ADSR sliders and LFO features. The filter sounds like the early Jupiter 4/ProMars which came out at the same time as the Paraphonic.
The Bass section has three preset bass sound types to choose via the big red buttons. It has its own VCA Attack and Release sliders and Vibrato controls. The bass tones are rich and full and can be combined together for some monstrous tones.
The String section has two lush pitched sounds - selectable via big green buttons – which can be assigned to the Upper and/or Lower sections of the keyboard. With Attack and Release control and Vibrato.
Sounds from the three tone sections can be blended for interesting results and the built-in stereo Ensemble chorus applied to each sound. One of the best stereo ensemble sections built into any Roland, with three modes. Stereo flange, stereo chorus ensemble(solina like) and a Dimension D like subtle chorus mode.
The Paraphonic 505 also features an external audio input (mono) so you could run another synth through the quadruple-BBD Ensemble chorus.
The performance control section to the left of the keyboard provides volume, tune, glide and pitch bender controls."

Manhattan Analog – MA35 VCF/A Synthesizer Combination Module

"The MA35 module is a combination of an analog VCF and a VCA. The filter section is based on the Korg35 filter as used in the legendary Ms-10 synthesizer. It is switchable between lowpass and highpass, has two audio inputs and creates the classic Korg sound i.e. it can sound from smooth to nasty. The VCA is a Korg circuit as well and is built with period (not original, hard-to-find) transistors and op-amps to keep the character as authentic as possible.
This vintage-isation makes the module a little raw and noisy but in a very charming way

"Here is a very short video for those following the MacBeth micromac-d (desktop version). I visited Engineering today andI saw the final design stage before the bare metal casing is made. The micromac-d is the 'brick shape' that I've spoken about earlier. Anyway- just a short vid to see the amazing 3D visualization of the design..."
