Manhattan Analog - Steiner Synthasystem VCF

Published on Feb 16, 2018 DivKidVideo

"After my first patch jam video earlier in the week [posted here] here's the full video demo with the Steiner Synthasystem VCF from Manhattan Analog. As you'd expect, it's a fantastic sounding filter! Details and timing index below.

I should say this is an official re-issue of the Steiner VCF, to quote Jason from Manhattan Analog "this is a faithful (and officially licensed) re-issue of the Synthasystem VCF, built largely from the original schematics which Nyle was generous enough to share with me."

TIMINGS / INDEX
00:51 Intro / feature run down
01:58 Low pass sweeps (varying res and drive / input level)
03:50 Band pass sweeps
04:20 High pass sweeps
04:57 Envelope modulation
06:03 Bassline synth riff
08:39 Complex input signals (pitch tracking, modulation etc)
13:07 Audio rate modulation
15:44 Filtering drum sounds"

Manhattan Analog - Steiner Synthasystem VCF *FIRST PATCH*

Published on Feb 14, 2018 DivKidVideo

"When you hear that Jason from Manhattan Analog is making a new filter you stop and take note. His MA35 [video here] and SVVCF [video here] are both fantastic so I knew this would be too. The Steiner Synthasystem VCF is gorgeous based on Nyle Steiners work with the Synthasystem and brought to life authentically in euro rack format."

Manhattan Analog - MA35

Published on Jun 1, 2015 DivKidMusic

"Here's a very good (possibly a classic now?) filter and VCA combo module from Manhattan Analog. The MA35 is based on the Korg MS-10 with absolute care taken to get the circuit as authentic as possible. Even the slight noise from the single chip VCA is authentic MS-10 noise! It has a two input mixer that you can overdrive and saturate your input signals with and switchable high pass and low pass. Lovely stuff! :)

Manhattan Analog - CP3 Mixer

Published on Feb 6, 2015 DivKidMusic

"The CP3 mixer circuit is originally from Moog and is known for it's gorgeous saturation and clipping mixing oscillators pre-filter. In the modular format it's capable of much more than that. My favourite little mixer! :)

An Act of Violins

Published on Jan 2, 2015 davidryle

"Lots of Makenoise and Music Thing modules.
The sound source is a Mysteron. The audio is through a Music thing spring reverb tank and Echophon. The Echopon has an MMG in the feedback loop.
The two delays are mixed on a Mahattan Analog CP3 mixer and sent to the Phonogene.
A pair of Maths and a pair of Turing Machines are used for modulation."

Modular Synth Jam - The Great Projection

Published on Nov 17, 2014 Iteration and Discord

"This patch was largely inspired by the bucket brigade delay made by doepfer. It never clicked in my head where the name bucket brigade delay came from until I read the instruction manual, then it was clear and furthered my enjoyment of bbd style delay.

I guess its the same concept as a line of people passing water down the line, bucket to bucket. As is the case with this eurorack modular synth patch. Although the delay buckets do not carry water, they do pass along waves created by the benjolin.

The starting point the epoch modular benjolin. The benjolin is then patched into the manhattan analog vca. I'm using the make noise maths on self cycle to generate an envelope to keep the benjolin in check. That envelope is fed into the manhattan analog vca. The output of the vca goes into the doepfer bbd a-188-1 with 4096 stages. The mix output of the doepfer is fed into the cwejman mm6 to filter out some of the ultra high pitch oscillator in the doepfer bbd. I use the make noise erbe verb as an effects send on my analog mixer (off camera). I am doing live manipulation of the modcan quad lfo to alter the cv on the dopfer, cwejman and erbe verb.

I obviously like to make somewhat random noises.

Thanks for watching and please consider subscribing to this channel for more synthesizer videos. The iteration and discord channel is dedicated to sound synthesis and my main area of interest is modular synths."

HackMe - Vectr - First Patches

Published on Sep 15, 2014 DivKidMusic

"Not a full overview in my usual style but just a quick video to show some of the first patches I've been having fun with controlling the modular with the HackMe Vectr. Patch note below -

Patch 1

Neutron Sound - Orgone Accumulator (overview coming soon) oscillator output (no modulation on the oscillator) into Make Noise Echophon with the X position on the Vectr modulating echo pitch, Y position modulating echo time and Z position modulating the mix amount. The Echophon output is into a Doepfer A-199 spring reverb with the original spring tank and a mix below 9 o'clock.

Only other movement except my hand over the Vectr is turning on and off the freeze on the echophon.

Patch 2

The sound source here is Mutable Instruments - Braids with the output through the Make Noise Echophon for some basic echo. The X and Y from the Vectr go into the Braids Timbre and Colour modulation. Additional control was from a Make Noise - Pressure Points & Brains combo with attenuated voltages going into an ADDAC 207 Quantizer then finally a Manhattan Analog - CVP for pitch and glide into Braids. I flick through the VFOF, Detuned Saws, Fold and Sync modes on Braids."
