Let this one develop. There are some really nice timbres in it.

"This is day one of me messing with my system after trading out my tempest for a small euro rack system. The Rene is sequencing the z3000 and 3 dotcom oscillators and there's a bunch of modulation going on with the clock and the filters. I'm really excited to have this full spectrum of sound as both systems show their strength and support each other quite nicely.

I filmed this all with a 5dmkii that I tried to hold steady but the shallow depth of field and close focus limitations led to quite a few "artistic" moments :)"

"Sonica Serge Synth Instrument, Frank Evantoff Number 490.

One of very few surviving, and of even fewer fully working Sonica Instruments.

This example is in fine condition, no damage other than one small cosmetic scuff to base of body (see last photo). No corrosion on battery connections, original case, unmarked original instructions and original instrument to amplifier cable.


You are bidding on an extremely rare FULLY WORKING electronic synthesizer instrument by Frank Evantoff, called the Sonica. Number 490 of only 650 produced. Shaped like small lute with a guitar like neck which fits perfectly into the hand. By touching the frets on the neck the instrument produces notes best often described as between a sitar and a violin."

"FEATURES:

16 faders to set the control voltage at each step
16-step or 8 x 2 (parallel) step mode
Sequential or RANDOM sequence mode switch
Gate assign bus. Each step can output a gate out 1 of 3 gate bus outs - this is great for sending gates to different synths or envelope generators at once.
2 channels of voltage outputs - 1 for the first set of 8 faders and a 2nd for the other set. This way, you can use your first set for pitch and your 2nd for filter cutoff, for example.
2 quantizers. Unlike most analog sequencers, this one quantizes its outputs so that it will easily play stepped pitches -its much easier sequencing 12 tone melodic parts when you don't have to fine tune every step but at the same time, the quantized outs on this sequencer have a much narrower pitch range than the other outs. Also, you should note that you might have to recalibrate either your synth or sequencer (or both) to one another if you intend to use the quantize feature or the quantized pitches might not be exact. This applies to all ARP Sequencers. Tthe unquantized outputs will provide extended output voltage range.
