Doepfer A-155 Sequencer as Graphic VCO
Doepfer A-155 Sequencer as graphic VCO from N K on Vimeo.
"This short video clip shows the Doepfer A-155 Analog Sequencer being used as a graphic VCO. The rate is controlled by the square wave output of another VCO (Doepfer A-110). Three steps of the sequence are modulated by three separate LFOs all at different rates making a constantly changing waveform. The A-155 output is processed by a Doepfer A-121 LPF stage, modulated by another LFO, creating smoother edges."

Cyclone Analogic Bass Bot TT-303 - Pattern Personalities, Mutate, Copy & Paste
Published on Jan 16, 2013 x0xclones·4 videos
"Our new website will be going live very soon at http://www.x0xclones.com where we will be providing information and reviews on clones and software emulations of the Roland SH-101, TB-303, TR-808 and TR-909.
In this video I demonstrate a some bot-generated patterns using each of the 7 "personalities". I then copy and paste one of the patterns into four pattern slots, and "mutate" the last pattern to create some variation before copying these 4 patterns into one pattern containing 64 steps. I then go back and repeat the process to give two 64 step patterns, each with the last 16 steps containing a different mutated pattern. I finally select the two 64 step patterns to continue to play one after another.
Here's the description of the 7 personality algorithms from the manual...
Presets 1 and 2 will produce 'fluid' styles as a lead instrument, usually with a 4/4 time signature (but not always!).
Presets 3 and 4 will produce 'glitched' styles as spontaneous riffs in a track, breaks or segue transitions as a band background instrument, generally in 4/4 or 2/4 time.
Presets 5 and 6 will produce 'triplet' styles for accompaniment or as the lead instrument, usually consisting of twelve triplet notes.
Preset 7 will produce 'chaotic' styles for creatively more complex patterns as the lead instrument. Patterns will primarily be quarter notes or triplets and the length of the patterns may vary from one to sixteen steps."

RED SOUND ELEVATA SYNTHESIZER

via the seller: "I tried out several very cool analogish sounds. It reminded me of a Roland Juno 60 meets an Arp Odyssey. I hope this rare limited production run of 250 Elevata goes to the right person, someone who knows what this baby can do and how it works."
I played a Darkstar and it did remind me a bit of a Juno-60, but a bit dry sounding if that makes any sense. Not so much an ARP Odyssey. The Elevata is a different synth though. I forget if the engine was based on the Darkstar or if it was a complete re-write like the Nord Lead 3 vs. the Nord Lead 1 and 2.

Posting this one here vs. MATRIXSYNTH-B for the Control Freak & its box & manual shots to the left. The Control Freak was a programmable MIDI slider box that you could map to edit different synths and MIDI gear. Packaging, design, and marketing materials always fascinate me as it gives you an idea of what sort of feel the manufacturer was trying create, or not, in some cases. I thought this one was particularly interesting. Orange on white. The design reminds me of something out of the 40s or 50s if not earlier. Any design or font buffs out there?

"Teisco Synthesizer 60-f for sale. Everything works apart from the rubber pitchbend buttons, but this was a common problem... Used for messing about with but never sussed out the gated controller inputs for use with other hardware / instruments as it has no MIDI for timing. Apparently, if you have a trigger source with MIDI sync (MIDI to CV/trigger converter, drum machine with trigger output) you can fire the EG and control the VCA and VCF of the external signal. For example, you can use an E-Mu SP12 with metronome individual output that can perfectly trigger the EG in several time signatures synced with MIDI tempo (1/4, 1/4t, 1/8, 1/8t, 1/16, 1/16t, 1/32, 1/32t). Then you can control the amplitude decay of every "slice" of incomming signal with the slider of the EG, as well as the decay of the cutoff frequency of the LPF affected by the EG..."

Sound Scope Space for iPad

"Sound Scope Space for iPad is a synthesizer (a noise machine) from the Strange Agency developer team. I'm really fond of their Synth Apps... So, this one allows you to "sculpt" the oscillator waveforms with your finger. It also comes with the Kuzmoscillator™ modulator which is an LFO control for pitch and volume and it also has an arpeggiator. You can store your own presets. Unfortunately you cannot record your performances. A Super App!"
An interesting look back. Sound Scope Space was out in 2010 as you can see in this video. The last updated was on Oct 21 of 2012. The Strange Agency also brought us Curtis [video below] and other apps.

"The famous waveform-sculpting synthesizer finally available for iPad!
The latest generation of our Sound Scope synthesizer, with a completely rewritten audio engine, Kuzmoscillator™ modulator, echo, arpeggiator, more range, and higher resolution!
WAVEFORM EDITOR:
Use your finger to sculpt the oscillator waveforms! Try to draw a jagged shape for rich harmonics. Draw a smooth wave for smooth tones. Use a square shape to create hollow, flute-like sounds. Use the preset wave shape buttons as starting points for different timbres. The oscillators will morph to the preset shapes in time with the arpeggiator tempo.
New features: The flat lines silence each oscillator. The stair step lines turn on aliasing, for a harsher, more retro 8-bit sound.
PERFORMANCE AREA:
Simply touch the play area in the bottom third of the screen to play notes like you would on a keyboard. You can use a pinching motion on the ruler on either side of the screen to zoom into a particular pitch region for more precise control. Use two fingers to drag either ruler left or right to change the pitch region you are playing.
With the arpeggiator set to on, try using more than one finger on the central column; Space will step through all of the pitches you have pressed!
MODULATION AREAS:
Here you can change the arpeggiator and echo mode, and change their timing. With the arpeggiator on, you can use several fingers at once on the performance area, and Space will repeatedly step through these notes. With the arpeggiator turned off, you can play Space one note at a time like you would a keyboard.
The Kuzmoscillator™ modulator is an LFO control for pitch and volume. Drag across it horizontally, and you will cause the sound to go up and down in pitch. Drag vertically, and you will do the same to volume. The distance of your drag determines the AMOUNT of variation, while the speed of your drag determines the SPEED of variation.
For fans of Curtis, Sub Shredder, Ocarina, Leaf Trombone, and BeatMaker! For beat box maestros, drum machine programmers, 303 tweakers, synth heads, and analog junkies. If you love your Moog, Prophet, 808, 909, MKS, Juno or Jupiter, you will love Sound Scope Space!"
