Ambika MonoSweep

"Got my Mutable instruments Ambika up and running

it will have up to 6 voicecards, but at the moment it only has one , a SVF one and I decided to record a tune in higher quality than youtube allows , if this is what one sounds like, really looking forward to getting the other 3 put in there

this is a modified fat sweeep patch with the 2 oscillators detuned +/- 7 semitones each and portamento added

The drums are a patch I downloaded off the interwebs and edited to jack up the hihats ( I love hihats :P !) and change the rhytms . its played on my Nord Micromodular

played live with a bit of reverb added from my mixer"

Modcan FMVDO Eurorack Module

via this auction

"The FMVDO represents a new breed of sound generation for the modular environment. The primary design goal was to implement a variety of digital synthesis techniques and to combine them together in one 12HP wide module

The most significant wave-shaping feature of the FMVDO utilizes the technique referred to as Two-Operator FM, providing a wide variety of timbres from mellow bell like tones to complex distortion.

The inclusion of harmonically rich sample based wave tables extends the complexity of the FM effect comparable to multi-operator systems.

AM (Amplitude Modulation) is also available on-board as is standard Exponential FM using the Expo FM Jack

Conventional analogue VCOs are modulated with externally generated signals from LFOs and secondary VCOs, instead the FMVDO provides superior FM stability with internally generated, phase locked, sine table modulator.

The FM Index function controls the amplitude or depth of the modulation while the Ratio control tunes the modulator to an integer frequency value relative to the carrier frequency.

Phase locking the modulator with the carrier produces beat-free timbres that retain spectral relationships over the entire frequency range. The Ratio can also be switched to provide non-integer ratios for inharmonic periodic sounds.

The FMVDO includes standard VCO wave forms and adds several sample based wave tables. Pulse width modulation and hard sync are also supported.

Switch selectable quantized pitch tracking in semi-tone steps or non-quantized continuous frequency control with fine tune.

Macro Acid

"Extreme close up look at the Roland TB-303.

I love this little machine, it has a unique sound. The '303' was intended as a 'bass' machine but was not deemed successful by Roland so only 10-20k units were produced.

The 303s sound is affectionately referred to as 'acid' and it is the leading instrument in 'acid techno', a form of music that often focusses on one 'pattern' that evolves over the course of the track, from a low grumble all the way up to a distorted screech. This is achieved by the 'tweaking' of the 303 knobs.

'Macro Acid' let's us see the 303 up close, it's knobs, lights, markings and - in my machines case - all the wear and tear. For this I used a high quality Macros lens with my Canon 5D.

No video effects have been added. Everything you see ... is the 303 ... and a Kenton MIDI converter:)"

Vintage Korg X-911 Guitar Synth SN 274248

via this auction

"The Korg X-911 is a very underestimated synth. What it was intended to be, was a stand alone guitar synthesizer. What it now represents, in these enlightened times, is an all analog, quite unique, signal processor/effects unit. Whereas a true guitar synth really requires its own dedicated pickup arrangement, this unit simply accepts a standard 1/4" jack input. Just patch your guitar, microphone, or other instrument into the X-911 and play one note at a time. Sporting both CV/Trigger inputs AND outputs, these features alone, make it quite a useful little toy."

Malekko Wiard JAG Joystick Axis Generator Eurorack Module

via this auction

"More than just a pretty face, the Malekko Wiard J.A.G. (Joystick Axis Generator) is a unique and often surprising device that can twist almost any patch into a new creation. It takes any two modulation sources (LFO, Envelope, Sequencer, Random Generator, Oscillator, X and Y of a Joystick, etc…) and maps out an X and Y location. From this XY coordinate, the output level of the 8 outputs in the circle are determined, as well as a center (Dome with level control) and Edge (opposite of Dome) level – multiplying your 2 modulation inputs and providing you with a total of 12 outputs. The voltage distribution is most easily visualized with a joystick input; moving the the joystick will cause the LEDs to indicate the location of the joystick (as well as the level of each output), and the Dome LED will glow brighter the closer the joystick is to the center.

Experiment with connecting different inputs and inserting the modulation outputs into different points in your patch to animate your creations in a way that you never thought possible with just two modulation sources!

The input level can be switched to either 0-10 Volts (unipolar), or -5/+5 Volts (Bipolar). NOTE: The Malekko/Wiard JAG labeling of the polarity switch is reversed; just flip the switch and it will be easy to tell when you have the right setting for your modulation source.

The Joystick Axis Generator is 18hp wide, 25mm deep, and consumes around 80mA power."
