Skrillex - Bangarang - Old School Computer Remix
Published on Mar 13, 2013 bd594·24 videos
I spy MATRIXSYNTH in this one. :)
".
Skrillex was the most requested so your wish is my command. Bangarang was a complicated song with respect to timing and now I have a new respect for Dubstep. For all the haters out there the audio in this video is 100% in sync with the original song. If you don't believe me then test it out for yourself.
Vocals were performed with the DECTalk Express. The same speech synthesizer used by Stephen Hawking back in the eighties. The main vocals are the Betty and Rita presets overlapped. Kit and Dan vocal presets were also used.
Back in 2009 I used an 8 inch floppy drive in my Bohemian Rhapsody video but this time I wanted to update it with Sammy1am's Arduino version. I find 3.5 inch floppy drives only sound good when playing short duraton notes with a fast tempo.
DECTalk - vocals
HP Scanjet 3C - lead
Yamaha CX-5 computer - guitar
Floppy and CDROM - lead bass solo
Modified Toy Laser Guns
Robot Bass, Snare and Cymbal"

"Obviously a super cool piece of history. It's a mystery to me if it's a “MuSonics” or “Moo music” version. Serial #1246 makes it one of the first 246 made. The serial number w/plexi pitch/mod falls into the Musonic era but the plate and date puts it in the moog music era. It was completed on 1/5/72 by RUL (see info below for more details). It’s in great shape and everything is in working condition. The Keys are solid and all work, contacts probably need cleaning, all pots and switches work. It needs a basic tuneup. Figured it's best to wait because it would probably need another after it was shipped. A (CV/Trig?) mod in the controller section was done at some point, the extra knob is a two way switch, it's been disconnected, so not sure exactly what it is was. There are a few minor cosmetic flaws, slight imperfections in the wood on the top panels where it looks like the foam material from the anvil case melted(?) but no huge gashes/scratches. This is a used vintage unit so expect the usual wear. This item works but is sold AS/IS, no returns so please do your research/ask me questions before you bid.
more info...
*Minimoog Model D-2 "Moo Music" (1970) The next ones “D” are still R.A Moog Model, always have discrete VCO but are cosmetically a little bit different from the first ones. R.A Model D are considered by collectors as the best and fattest sounding of all versions of the Mini. They are very hard to keep in tune. Most of the oscillator boards have been upgraded.
The original oscillators in the first Minimoog R.A. Moog versions (They were the oscillators that had matched pairs of transistors with metal heatsinks) did sound richer than the later versions. Like the original modular oscillators, they used a exponential current source and a uni junction transistor to generate a sawtooth wave. At the time these were designed, opamps like the 741 were just coming available but at $7.00 ( $7.00 in 1970 is like $35.00 today) were just too expensive, all the circuitry in the Minimoog was built using discrete transistors.Even with hand matched transistors, it was impossible to make the oscillator really stable or to track that well. But, the tracking variations combine with the rich harmonics from the unijunction transistors added to the overall richness of the sound. Logo plate R.A MOOG (white or black), metal front panel, modulation wheels are transparent. Serial number 10??-11??.
*Minimoog Model D-3 "Musonic" (1971) R.A Moog Cie became Musonic Cie when R.A had to merge with Musonic cie. Electronic circuits are the same than R.A. models, very rare like the R.A Mini. Name plate Musonic, metal panel, modulation wheels are transparent. Serial number 11??-13??.

Idle Hands Isomorphic Controller
Isomorphic keyboard with a regular keyboard as root note chooser.
Published on Jan 4, 2013 Johan Larsby·85 videos
"Isomorphic keyboard with a regular keyboard as root note chooser I have more information about ut over at http://www.larsby.com/johan/?p=1228"
"I have a proposition for a new type of controller for playing and recording chords. It's based on isomorphic input and the usual keyboard. And no it's not an accordion.
Why do I think me and the world needs this? Because recording and editing chords on the computer is tedious and boring. Even when applying all the tricks I know in Ableton Live I still lack a way to fast and easy add a walking chord or a strum like one. And if I program one and then transpose it I would have to redo it for every single clone if I want to change a little something. Not to mention the human feel that you get while playing something rather then programming it.
This became apparent to me while learning to play the bass, I could reuse the same pattern if I knew the base note. This kicked ars, but basses are hard to strum on, and even harder to make into MIDI data. So I found the isomorphic input method appealing, but the cheapest keyboard was still expensive. So I was thinking about making one cheaper, and that would not be done unless there where significally less buttons.
So I came up with this idea:
Using a one octave keyboard to choose the root-note, and then a isomorphic keyboard that is velocity sensitive. That way I would only need 12 velocity sensitive buttons and 12 keys for the note-selection."

Squidfanny - Circuit Bended PSS-460 with 'Trance-Gate' Step-Sequencer & Monotribe (March 2013)
Published on Mar 13, 2013 squidfanny·135 videos
squidfanny on eBay (RSS)
"Yamaha PSS-460 F.M. Synthesizer, well Circuit Bent/ Haxxed & Modded. This machine has an integrated Step-Sequencer for Modulation and Sync.
The PSS-460's Analog Chorus Circuit has been modified to act as a Phaser & LFO. External audio can be fed into the PSS-460, and the synth will act as an FX processor, with Chorus / Gate & Phaser available.
The Phaser's LFO can be synced to the Step-Sequencer.
Glitch Mods open up the F.M. Chip, and allow unique new instrument patches to be generated from the PSS-460's preset 'Single Finger Chord' feature.
Glitch Switches, a Metal Bolt-Bay, and Interrupt switches will scramble and corrupt the rhythms, creating abstract soundscapes of random Glitch weirdness and Crash Noise.
FM Glitch is Random and Un-predictable. Once lost, the results can never be repeated, so record everything!"
