"I spent this week 'modularizing' monome apps to work with Beap. Friday night, my new Make Noise MMF arrives. I'm a bit of a low pass gate snob, so I was pretty excited to plug it in. In this video, the MMG is pretty much the only thing you're hearing. I'm modulating the MMG with four sources, three of them sequences driven by the monome. There are five sequencers in all, and there is a monome 64 switching among them. The other two sequencers are modulating pitch and FM index of a two operator FM pair, using the FM osc in Beap. This is sent directly to the MMG.
At one point I throw in a post-MMG VCA because I had that patched in to experiment with ring clamping, but I don't use it for long.
Beap can be downloaded at my github.

MMG as Low Pass Gate test
MMG as Low Pass Gate test from Peter Speer on Vimeo.
"First patch with the new Make Noise MMG filter. Using the Strike input to emulate a low pass gate.
Signal path:
DPO VCO 2 sine (lin FM from VCO 1) --> MMG --> Echophon --> monitors (via QMMG VCAs, fully open)
Modulation:
Pressure Points pressure out --> MMG cutoff frequency
" " (mult) --> MMG resonance
Pressure Points gate out --> Wogglebug Clock in
Wogglebug Stepped out --> DPO VCO 2 1v/oct
" " (mult) --> Echophon Wet/Dry amount
Pressure Points Gate out (mult) --> MMG Strike input
--or--
Wogglebug Burst out --> MMG Strike input

"This is an analogue drum machine from the mid 1970s. It uses inductor coils or "tuned tanks" to produce its sound in a similar way to the Roland TR-77 and the Korg Mini-Pops. The modulator section is key to this unit and sets it apart from other drum machines of the era. You can connect an instrument to the rear modulator input (say, a synthesizer), and then that input gets triggered by the Rhythm King' beat. Must be heard to believe. YouTube this, and you'll hear that feature. Very cool.
It's a rare piece, especially in this condition. All sounds work, all rhythms work and all sliders are nice and crackle-free. There are 10 sounds and 16 rhythms plus an intro/break feature. The rhythms can be combined as is typical with these older 'diode matrix' rhythm units. The two cymbal sounds have various decay amounts depending on the rhythms chosen ranging from a short maracas type sound to open high-hat. This is a heavy unit in tolex."
