WebSID - web-based Commodore 64 synth
Published on Mar 11, 2014 Igor Zinken·13 videos
"A demonstration of the WebSID, a synthesizer that runs inside your browser (Google Chrome or Safari 6+ required, though most mobile devices such as iPads are ready to go) that pays homage to the retro sounds of the SID chip, a.k.a. the audio module of the Commodore 64. The trademark pulse width modulated waves provide a testament to deep, heavy bass lines while playing chords on the top keyboard will result in the trademark arpeggiated lines so typically associated with old school video games. For further sound sculpting, a high res filter and echo have been added to turn the WebSID into a chaotic drone machine.
NOTE : the audio glitches in the video, but is a side effect of the screencast, no such glitches are present in the actual application.
You can play with the WebSID directly by following this link :

or get it as a (free) Chrome Web App so you can run it offline:

Here you can see song mode (several types available in the final product!), the load/store capabilities (in the first public revision you will have 64 pattern memories), the individual track length and so on...
Sorry for the slight offset of the synth line :)"

Shruthi Poly Demo
"This is a demo of 29 different sounds played polyphonically on 6 different Shruthi synthesizers, from Mutable Instruments, using a MidiPal to assign notes to each monophonic synthesizer. There are 2 ladder filters (from TubeOhm), 2 4PM filters, one SMR4 MK1 filter and one SMR4 MK2 filter in the group. If you listen carefully (or not so carefully on some of the samples), you can hear the variations caused by the different filters.
I just played whatever came into my head when I heard the patch, and it’s one take per sample, no overdubbing (mistakes and all that). There’s a bit of Saffire reverb added, and recording was done with Reaper. The patches are from the stock set, FunkyFli’s bank, TubeOhm’s bank, some stuff from Gadget Fiend and a few others.
Some of the patches were edited slightly by me to help them work polyphonically. Use headphones if possible, the six instruments are panned across the stereo field and bounce around a bit.
