Single VCO split to create dub chords (modular trick)

Published on Dec 30, 2014 alternatingbitmusic

"Thanks to the enginerring genius of Stereotactixxx I was able to follow his lead on the concept of using a single VCO to create a chord via pulse split / gate sourcing. In short:
Take one VCO, tune it high and set the pulse width no wider than 50%. Split the pulse out with a multiple, and send two instances of that pulse to the clock inputs of two rows of sympleSEQs. Set one sympleSEQ to 5 steps and the other to 6 steps. Mix the gate outs of the sympleSEQs using a mixer, and there is your chord. Flip the gates on and off on the sequencers until you get a sound you like. Some has to be off, otherwise you will will only end up with the fifth in the chord, which is the original clock signal. Now that you have your chord, just send it through a VCF and a VCA and modulate them the way you would do with any sound. (his words)"

Sequential Circuits Six-Trak

"This is a mint condition Sequential Circuits Six-Trak. It is an excellent sounding and very durable analog polyphonic synthesizer produced in the U.S. during the early to mid 80s. This particular unit has a later OS 9 ROM which means it was one of the later ones to be produced and also means that the unit has modern standard MIDI functionality.

There aren't any scratches on the unit. There is just a small scuff on the left corner wood side which really can't be seen. Otherwise, the synth is immaculate. I have personally cleaned the insides from dust and particles and have deoxidized the output. This synth is a real gem.

As for what matters, the sound, this thing is a beast. It has a very unique analog VCO tone found only in Sequential Circuits synths from this era. This synth has been compared to the Juno 60/106 and sounds beautiful on its own, but truly comes to life when you add a little chorus, reverb, or delay. I have owned one of these for a few years now and I'm always blown away by how I can get this synth to sound so organic and life-like."
