Lyra-8 Simpler Organismic Textures with Percussive Oberheim SEM Pro and Sequencing Semblance
Published on Oct 13, 2017 martinjazz78
"Good speakers or headphones are highly recommended. These synths sound so beautifully and deserve appropriate listening device.
Another excerpt from my dawless synth jam with amazing yet for me still not easily controllable Lyra-8 by SOMA synths from Russia. In this part, I was producing textures (quasi harmonies) on Lyra-8 and again was pleasantly surprised by sheer beauty and inspirativness of everything coming out Lyra, although many of these sounds weren't intended and even expected to happen.
Percussive sequence on the background is modern reissue of classic Tom Oberheim's SEM Pro controlled by Cirklon hardware sequencer. Cirklon also controls Semblance by Analogue Solutions, which is in fact a clone of the Oberheim's SEM, but it sounds completely different. Both synths are processed through the vintage tape Roland Space Echo for delay and Strymon Big Sky for reverb.
Additionally you hear Taurus III Bass Pedals by Moog Music (from about middle of the video) giving some long sustained bass tones (again controlled by Cirklon). Last but not least, you hear Ken Macbeth's Elements Synthesizer creating very organically sounding atmospheric ambience.
Enjoy ;)"

"The X7000 was Akai's first major Sampler Keyboard instrument similar in style and format to the E-mu Emax, Ensoniq Mirage, EPS and Roland S-10 sampling keyboards. The X7000 has about the same sampling features as the rack-mount S-900, which were great in 1986. Variable 12-bit sampling up to 40kHz, 128K RAM for storing only a few seconds worth of samples and a complete suite of basic sample editing functions including looping, auto-looping, truncating, multi-sampling and re-sampling capabilities, tuning and so on. It even features a few dedicated parameter buttons above the keyboard for quick access to the LFO and other modulations.
This sampler sounds pretty good. It's got a lo-fi edge due to the fact that it's only a 12-bit rather than 16-, 20- or 24-bit sampler. The slow 2.8" built-in disk drive is not exactly compatible with much. But you can use it to store your samples or load samples from libraries for Akai's S-612, S-700 and X7000. Editing samples is straight forward and makes this synth a great entry-level sampler. However, the LCD display is small so editing can be tedious. It also features a cool analog-like filter with cutoff. But for enhanced analog-like editing, the X7000 can be hooked up to the AX73, AX60and VX90 synthesizers via the DD-X5013 Voice Cable so you can run the X7000's samples through these synth's analog circuitry."

Mystic Circuits - 0HP Vactrol LPG
Published on Oct 13, 2017 DivKidVideo
"Eli from Mystic Circuits brings is a little package of awesomeness with his new 0HP passive in line accessories for euro rack modular synths. In this video I have the 0HP Vactrol LPG (low pass gate) which sings beautifully, has a little clipping with higher/longer CV and also a mix input for passing through unaffected audio to mix with the LPG output. But as this is passive the LPG out and mix in pass through get all compressed smushed up together. What a great use of 0HP! :)"
