One Morning with a Moog Mother-32

Published on Feb 17, 2018 Anodyne Institute

"Here is a comfy session of sound design with the Moog Mother-32 from my bed in the Geodesic Dorm. Recording commenced at 6:38am and ceased at 7:57am. The footage is presented chronologically. We try to 'show our work' whenever possible in this compilation, so you can see how one patch or sequence mutates into the next strange set of sounds. A Zoom MS-70CDR multi-effect pedal provides analog-style delay and lo-fi reverb.

Pseudo-generative Sunrise with the Moog Mother-32

Published on Jan 31, 2018
Here is a pleasant little nothing, captured during #jamuary2018. This is the Moog Mother-32 semi-modular synthesizer and a Zoom MS-70CDR effects pedal providing delay.

The things that make it nice: A wandering sequence recorded into the Mother via keyboard. The stepped random voltage from the Assign output controls Tempo, so that each step in the sequence is a random length. These two combined feel like a hand-cranked music box.

Envelope and Keyboard voltages are blended together in the Voltage Controlled Mixer and then sent to the filter. This provides a blend between soft and hard, bright shapes.

Pulse waveform with slow pulse-width modulation suggests a future that did not happen.

The delay has a high feedback amount, creating a bed of prairie grass for the sounds to rest upon."
