Normay Phay live at Bells N Whistles Crackles N Pops 2017

Published on Mar 1, 2018

"Here's Norman Phay performing at Ross Lamond's 'Bells N Whistles Crackles N Pops' event back in November 2017. Performing with a Wiard 6U system and poly synth (I can't remember what it was)."

Looks like a KORG Lambda ES50.

Lights - Ambient - Eurorack / Digitakt / Pedals - recorded to cassette

Published on Mar 1, 2018 Jogging House

"Check out my new album 'From': https://seilrecords.bandcamp.com/albu...

First time using the Digitakt to sequence the mini modular system. The samples on the Digitakt were previously made with that system. All together recorded straight to cassette. I added a bit of reverb in Ableton as I don't have a hardware reverb at the moment.

The video goes in and out of sync due to tape warble, nothing I can do about that. Hope you still enjoy it."

Great view of the city. Curious what the smoke on top of the modular is.

Tape Techniques 3: Sampling on the Teenage Engineering OP1

Published on Mar 1, 2018 HAINBACH

Interesting note on the built-in synth engines sounding "a little coldish". If you own one and have an opinion, feel free to leave a comment.

"In which I detail my process of using tape machines and microphones before sampling into the Teenage Engineering OP1.

WHY WE BLEEP PODCAST 002: JUSTIN OWEN - ABSTRACT DATA

Published on Mar 1, 2018 mylarmelodies

"In this episode we meet Justin Owen of Abstract Data, who I would describe as a perfect example of the modern Eurorack 'pioneer' - a one-person company with no formal training, completely self-taught - yet able to make, sell and support fantastic gear, and (just about!) make a living doing it. How does someone actually DO that??

Well, in this episode, we sit down to talk all this and more. We talk about the impact of Punk, and early Orbital in his music formation, growing up in a suburb of Sydney, on the design process and bugbears on trends in Eurorack product design, on putting the character and vibe back into VCAs, and surviving as a manufacturer in a crowded market.

And we end talking about his music making process - how he uses a modular as part of music making...WITHOUT getting distracted. And how do you do that? Best sit in and get listening..."

Video Patch Notes :: 5-15

Published on Mar 3, 2018

"A video describing some of the modules and techniques used to produce the performance video "5-15".

The modules used for this patch are almost all from Sputnik Modular, which unfortunately is no longer producing Eurorack modular gear :-(

I wish I'd been a bit more organized in the presentation, but it was off-the-cuff and I was tired. In future videos I'll try to cover the signal routing a bit better."

25 02 18 BugBrand Modular System

Published on Mar 1, 2018 batchas

"Damned... A hidden camera was recording while I was clowning around in the studio :)

Same patch as this: [posted here] but sequence clock is slower.
Drum from DRM1 + Xpander, but also from Korg Electribe (BD, SD, HH).

In the last week of february I'm recording while sending a few voices out of the BugBrand to different tracks in Logic. So it's still recorded in one take, but on multitrack instead of direct to a stereo track like I'm used to do to not loose too much time with editing or whatever. I do it now so I can apply an effect or fade in/out separately if I want to. That's why sometimes you see me doing something , it's there, but you don't hear it."
