JLR Plays The Tacoma Noise Rodeo - April 29th 2022 at KVLT Mead

video upload by John L Rice

"Loosely planned performance recorded with a Canon M5 camera and it's built in mics while sitting on top of one of the main PA speakers! (not too bad considering how it was done? ;-)

Gear used:
Manikin Electronic - Schrittmacher sequencer
Vermona - Perfourmer MkII synthesizer
Mackie - 802-VLZ3 mixer
TC Electronic - T3 reverb pedal
Keeley Electronics - Fuzz Bender pedal
Electro Harmonix - Mel9 mellotron emulator pedal
Dunlop MXR - Octave Fuzz pedal
Mooer - Ocean Machine reverb/dual delay/looper pedal
Strymon Engineering - Zuma R300 power supply for pedals
Mellotron - Micro keyboard
EWI Tourcase - MXC-008-10 mixer case (heavily modified by JLR)
JLR - custom patch bay for pedals and mixer"

April 26, 2022

video upload by John L Rice

Manikin Schrittmacher sequencer on the top left. Vermona Perfourmer & Mellotron Micro featured in this one. You can find additional John L Rice Mellotron posts here.

Update: YT description added:

"Realtime test after recently reconfiguring my custom pedalboard patch bay. Recorded on my iPad with no edits. Besides the Mellotron Micro Keyboard, the case is a modified MXC-008-10 mixer case from Audiopile.net and contains the following:

Left side:
Manikin Electronic Schrittmacher sequencer
Vermona PERfourMER MKII quad synth

Right side:
Mackie 802-VLZ3 mixer and power supply
Keeley Electronics Fuzz Master pedal
Electro Harmonix Mel9 pedal (mellotron emulator)
Dunlop/MXR Octave Fuzz pedal
Mooer Ocean Machine pedal (reverb, delays, looper)
TC Electronic T3 pedal (modulated reverbs)
Strymon Engineering Zuma R300 power supply (for pedals)
Custom patch bay for pedals and mixer

The patch bay has Canare GS-4 cables soldered directly to the jacks with the other ends terminated with Squareplug SP400 Low Profile Flat TS plugs that connect to the pedals. The patch bay jacks are all normal'd together right to left, and by using patch cables I can easily reconfigure how the pedals are interconnected. The normal connections are:
Mixer EFX send - Fuzz Master - Mel9 - Octave Fuzz - Ocean Machine - T3 - mixer EFX returns*
but in this video I used the mixer insert for the channel the Mellotron is plugged into to connect to the Fuzz Master - T3 and then the rest is configured as:
Mixer EFX send - Mel9 - Octave Fuzz - Ocean Machine - mixer EFX returns*
*the jacks connected to the stereo mixer returns have a second set of cables that go to mixer input 7/8 and by turning up the Aux send for the channel I can create feedback."

Pocket Operator Office Through A Lot Of Guitar Pedals – The Sequel

video upload by Brian Leahy Art

"It's been too long since we ran the unique Pocket Operator Office through a bunch of guitar effects pedals. Time for a sequel!

The Pocket Operator PO-24 Office by Teenage Engineering can produce some crushing, aggressive, and fun percussion sounds when you run it through guitar effects pedals like distortion, fuzz, and flanger. In this video I run it through the following new pedal chain (note that the first 3 pedals are “on” throughout the video):

TC Electronic Polytune 3 Mini (using this one for the buffer, since it's a long signal chain)"

Benjolin + Mäander Filter Bank + Ocean Machine // Ambient Synth Noise Looping #TTNM

video by THE TUESDAY NIGHT MACHINES

"The Benjolin is modulated by the Klangbau Köln Eurorack Joystick CV Processor. Its mono audio is routed through the Flame Mäander’s sequenced filter bank, turning the sounds into a stereo signal, by panning certain filter bands hard to the L and R channels. At the end of the chain sits the Mooer Ocean Machine ambient guitar pedal with two stereo delays, a lush reverb and a live audio looper. It’s a fun noise and drone music doodle :)"

Gotharman's SpazeDrum + Mooer Ocean Machine // Ambient Music #TTNM

THE TUESDAY NIGHT MACHINES

"Can the crazy SpazeDrum do lush space music? Find out in this video!

♥ SUPPORT: http://bit.ly/ttnm-support

For this jam session I created a bunch of soft ambient synth and percussion sounds with the analog oscillators in the SpazeDrum. I also applied the digital filters and a bunch of slow LFOs and random modulation. The Ocean Machine adds two delay and reverb effects to the stereo audio.

The SpazeDrum is an analog-digital hybrid drum synthesizer form Denmark. It features a powerful sequencer and lots of modulation options. You can create your sounds from scratch and while it's made with drums in mind, you can still use it like a synth with all the typical building blocks, plus some Gotharman specialities :)

Check out the website and manual here: http://www.gotharman.dk/spazedrum.htm"

Giving this one the Synth Rorschach label for the look of this pedal. It's like a Waldorf Q and MFB Dominion Club had a baby.

This is the first one to be featured on the site. Below is a quick intro video from Mooer.

An Ocean in Thyme // No Input Ambient Music // Mooer Ocean Machine + Bastl Thyme #TTNM

Published on Mar 18, 2020 THE TUESDAY NIGHT MACHINES

"It's been a while since I last made some no input music with the Mooer Ocean Machine and Bastl Thyme ...

♥ SUPPORT: http://bit.ly/ttnm-support

The Ocean Machine is a straightforward looper, dual delay and reverb guitar effect pedal. Its left channel output is connected the Bastl Instruments Thyme robot-controlled digital tape delay. The Thyme's right channel output goes back into the Ocean Machine's right channel input. The Thyme's left channel output goes into the audio recorder.

This creates a feedback loop between the two devices, resulting in audible self-oscillation, which can be looped and shaped via the effects, similar to a normal synthesizer waveform. Only that we don't need a synth at all.

The video was recorded in one take, without any other sound sources or effects, apart from the Ocean Machine and Thyme.

It's fun! try it at home!

Here's a tutorial for the Ocean Machine alone: [posted below]

... and a no input mixing tutorial: [posted here]"

HORROR DRONE!!! Mooer Ocean Machine No Input Noise Music! #TTNM

Published on Apr 17, 2019 THE TUESDAY NIGHT MACHINES

"At Thomann's Synth Reactor 2019 I finally got the chance to play with an Ocean Machine, after having it on my wish list for a long time (video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gylcx...). After that, Mooer Audio were kind enough to send me a pedal home to dig deeper into it. I don't have a guitar though, so I needed to come up with another way to use this thing and I think I actually found one that is way more fun :D

At your own risk, plug one Ocean Machine audio output into your speaker/mixer/recorder. Plug the other audio output into one of the Ocean Machine's audio inputs. Plug in power and hold on to your hat!

... well, start with all three mixer knobs at zero, obviously. Then slowly add feedback by adding delays and reverb. Short delay times add high pitched sounds, while long delay times add lower pitched sounds. Play with different delay and reverb types and don't forget to let the looper's continuous audio overdub running. Also, use the reverse and half-speed playback features!"

Mooer Audio GE 300 Amp Modeling Synth

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

via this auction

Never seen one of these before. Some notes on the Synth enginge below.

"The GE300 from MOOER is the flagship multi-effect instrument processor. By combining the well-received Micro Preamp series, TONE CAPTURE instrument matching technology, tri-voice polyphonic synthesizer module, and a wide-range of guitar effects and tools, the GE300 embellishes every single motive for creation from your mind with nuanced details.

The GE300 contains dual-DSP processors delivering the fastidious detailed characterizes of every delay, reverb, modulation or amp model inside. Thanks to the intuitive and simple UI, controls, and connection ports, the GE300 is an all-in-one working station for musicians whether in a live situation, at home, or in the studio.

Synth

With the synth module, your instrument will be transformed into an electronic synthesizer without the need for special pickups or instrument modifications, allowing you to spark your creativity with more possibilities.

As you can see from the diagram, the SYNTH ENGINE has 3 independent voices with their own parameters for waveform, pitch, attack, level, filter and arpeggiator. The signal path from the instrument input is split and routed directly to the front of each synth voice so they remain completely parallel and independent from one another. The thru dry signal can also be mixed parallel to the entire synth effect block, so you can opt for synth only or mix it with your guitar signal..."

TEST SERIES Korg Little Bits Mooer Pigtronix Nobels Micro Mini Pedals

Published on Sep 11, 2019 Outsider Sound Design

"I needed to make some sample material to later process in software. I thought it would be interesting to put together a mini setup with Korg Little Bits, Boredbrain The Patchulator 8000, Nobels ODR-1 Mini, Pigtronix OFM Disnortion Micro Distortion, and Mooer Ana Echo Analog Delay, Acoustikar Acoustic Guitar Simulator, Trelicopter, and E-lady. Treating them with various processes should yield some interesting results.

The purpose of “TEST SERIES” is to focus on the sound design possibilities of various gear combinations. This series is not musical nor does it serve as an instructional video. It is all about sound potential.

SPACE DRONES // Mooer Ocean Machine + Bastl Thyme + SynthScaper + Noisemusick #TTNM

Published on Apr 27, 2019

"Listen to those deep, space-drone looper soundscapes while letting your mind wander.

♥ SUPPORT: http://bit.ly/ttnm-support

GEAR USED:
Mooer Ocean Machine
Bastl Instruments Thyme
Zoom R16
SynthScaper iOS app
Noisemusick iOS app

LEFT SIDE:
Mooer Ocean Machine ambient guitar pedal connected to the Bastl Instruments Thyme digital tape machine in a feedback loop. So one Ocean Machine's output goes back into its own input and the other output goes into the Thyme's input.

One of the Thyme's outputs goes back into the Ocean Machine second input and the other Thyme output finally goes into the Zoom R16 audio recorder.

Then I play with both units' audio looper and delay and reverb effects to layer a wild ambient space drone sound.

RIGHT SIDE:
Apple iPhone running the SynthScaper and Noisemusick iOS synth apps, connected to the Mooer Ocean Machine. Here I simply play sounds through the looper, delays and reverb of the guitar pedal.
