Volca FM Freestyle

Published on Mar 13, 2018 RemixSample

"Hello again, this is a demonstration of what you can do with the Volca FM, Valhalla Shimmer, Crystallize Delay and a clumsy set of fingers interrupting the flow lol. The Volca FM only has 3 note polyphony but you can still squeeze a lot out of that. Not being able to adjust velocity on individual notes is a big draw back though since FM patches can sound very different depending on the velocity level."

NSynth Super - An Open Source Hardware Neural Synthesizer From Google

Published on Mar 13, 2018 Google

[Update: You can now find an order form on Auxren's website here for assembled PCBs minus the case.

Update2 via Koryo Williamson in the comments: "I'll post STEP and STL files for cases that more resemble the active UI version. Xometry, Protolabs, DIY 3D print and such."

Update3: Just a side not for those interested: the neural synthesis brings the Hartmann Neuron to mind, and the resynthesis aspect brings the Technos Axcel and the Axcel2 to mind.]

Playlist for the videos above:
1. Making music with NSynth Super
London-based producer Hector Plimmer, explores new sounds generated by the NSynth machine learning algorithm - using NSynth Super an open source experimental instrument.
2. Making music using new sounds generated with machine learning [featuring Robotspeak]
NSynth Super is an open source experimental instrument. It gives musicians the ability to explore completely new sounds generated by the NSynth machine learning algorithm.

Note NSynth was first mentioned in this post with Andrew Huang.

"NSynth Super is part of an ongoing experiment by Magenta: a research project within Google that explores how machine learning tools can help artists create art and music in new ways.

Intro To Synthesis Part 6: Modulation and LFO | Reverb Learn to Play

Published on Mar 13, 2018 Reverb

"What is an LFO? Learning how to speak synth language isn't easy, but Justin DeLay is here to help. Today, he's explaining how to use signals generated by your instrument to shape your sound (modulation) and the science of low-frequency oscillators (LFO.)

Live Drone Simulation With Drums

Published on Mar 12, 2018 NoizeHack

"Drone with a Moog MF-101 Filter as oscillator ring modulated by MF-102 and MF-104M Delay. Jekyll & Hyde Filter with MBase 11 Kick through the Jekyll and Trogotronic noise box and Mother 32 Snares through the Hyde. Mixed with a CP-251 and smashed with an Overstayer FET compressor for no dynamic range. Sequenced with two SQ-1s. Lots of high frequency grating sounds layered on top of low frequency droning."
