Working With Samples BOOM BAP BEAT MUSIC THEORY
Published on Apr 19, 2018 The Daydream Sound
"Using a sampler for Boom Bap is a creative experience. Using the Akai MPC 2000 drum machine we’ll analyze a sampled beat and speak on the theory behind their use in the song. There’s a lot of unpredictable results that can happen and you never know for sure what you’ll end up with musically."

Django Django - Gear Guide - the Yamaha D85 Electone
Published on Apr 19, 2018 FACTmagazine
"Found on eBay for just £30.
We recently visited Django Django’s north London studio to set the band the challenge of making a track in 10 minutes as part of our Against The Clock series. While we were there, one instrument caught our eye: keyboard player Tommy Grace’s rare Yamaha organ.
Made in 1977, the Yamaha D85 Electone was the GarageBand of its day, featuring three keyboards and an auto-accompaniment section that plays simple rhythms, allowing you to play a whole orchestra from one instrument.
In the video above, Grace shows us how it works and tells us how cheap and easy they are to get your hands on – as long as you have a van to transport it."
Yamaha RX11 One of the best drum machines ever made?
Published on Apr 19, 2018 Espen Kraft
"The Yamaha RX11 drum machine from 1984. This is the drum machine Erasure used for their live gigs after their debut album "Wonderland". The RX proved itself to deliver the sound they were going for and it's also very easy to use and setup for both live and studio applications.
In this video I go over what I think is the best features of the machine.
It's also the drum amchine I used in the Woody challenge you can see here: [posted here]

What's not to like?
- Individual outs
- Several different sounds within each category
- Good MIDI specs
- Great overview and easy to program"

BEHRINGER MODEL D REVIEW and 15-minute manual
Published on Apr 19, 2018 loopop
"The Behringer Model D is an homage (or clone, depending on your point of view...) to the classic and legendary Minimoog Model D.
Behringer's main achievement, aside from creating a faithful and great sounding synth, is pricing it at $300. In this video I review some of the "cons" of this synth, and the many "pros" that make it a very enjoyable synthesizer, including three oscillators, a classic ladder filter, 5 modulation sources, two envelopes, two LFOs and a small but capable set of patch points.
Gear used alongside the D:
The Arturia Keystep
Cremacaffe Kosmo stand"
