Varg // Live @ Skanu Mezs

Published on Oct 5, 2018 Erica Synths

"Under the moniker of Varg, Jonas Rönnberg runs a cunning operation. Covert transmissions, alongside penetrating statements from techno’s core, are stacked adjacent to self-assertive live performances with an agility and depth of focus rarely summoned so instinctively.

Recorded at the 2017 White Night event of Skaņu Mežs festival in The Concert Hall AVE SOL which was built in 18th century as St. Peter and Pavel Church, Varg presents an hour of ambient soundscapes. Varg is a 2017 alumnus of the SHAPE platform for innovative music and audiovisual art, which is supported by the "Creative Europe" programme of the EU."

Dr. Walker // Live @ KONTAKTOR

Published on Sep 24, 2018 Erica Synths

"KONTAKTOR - Live Elektronik Musik festival's first edition took place on first of June in Riga Electrical Machine Building works main building, Sarkandaugava Industrial Park. A night long celebration of audacious electronic music brought together carefully curated live acts only. The program of the event aimed to recoil from the currently common and to accentuate mutating and ever evolving forms of techno, industrial, noise & experimental music. The event was created and produced by Erica Synths.

Dr. Walker, a founding member of Air Liquide, Asbest! and the head of the Liquid Sky Berlin and the soon upcoming Liquid Sky Portugal, also a part of Erica Synths team, brought a live set to trap the festival attendees within groovier rhythms eventually growing into harsher bangers and noisy soundscapes.

Erthenvar Closes Shop

This one is in via John L Rice who had the following to say:

"They came up with a lot of important contributions for the Eurorack community including 1U Tiles, right angle 3.5mm patch cables, and case hardware, etc. (fact check me on that though, they are just the first people I know of that offered some of those items)" I'm not sure myself. If anyone knows feel free to comment.

Here is the announcement via Erthenvar:

"September 24, 2018

End of the Road

Dear friends,

We regret to inform you that effective Sunday, September 23rd 2018, Erthenvar is no longer accepting orders and is working to wind down.

We would like to thank you for your continued support over the years. You made this a fun and fulfilling endeavor.

I would like to thank M, which is actually short for mom, for her tireless work helping my dreams become a reality. Without her, I would have had to shut down years ago. Love you, mom!

A shout to John Kennedy, who I began this journey with way back in November, 2010.

Thank you to Jason Degelman for helping with builds and so many good modular discussions.

I still love the logo after all these years, thanks Alex Vu!

Please contact us if you are interested in purchasing the company.

I look forward to the next chapter,

Nicholas Gregorich"

Never noticed the little thumbs up dude on the box.

"Open box new never used/built, rev/mk 2 of the TTSH synthesizer 2600 clone.
Got this in 2015, and it keeps getting pushed to the back of my bench in favor of euro modules that will fit within my cases.
This is only the front panel, main pcb, and three breakout oscillator pcbs. BOM and build info is still up on the company's website, my guess is only another $350ish to purchase all the parts to get this guy running."

Paia 2720 1970's Synthesizer with Patch Cords and Manuals

"Cool kit-built synth from the 1970's. One of my college friends built this, and I used it on gigs in the 70's and early 80's. The original oscillator became unstable, so I replaced it with an updated one (which is why the plate color is slightly darker). You can hear the unique sounds this instrument can produce on YouTube.
Most of the modules are pictured.
I will include the 10 pin cords, 7 voltage control cords, and one main patch cord pictured, as well as all of the individual module manuals, a book on 2720 sound synthesis, and some patch charts (one is pictured).
It does get power, but I was unable to get more out of the output than a quiet buzz when I tested it."
