PROLOGUE VS. JUPITER-X: Sounds From Scratch + Filters

MR TUNA Music

"As requested!
It's another synth showdown- this time its the mighty (and massive) Roland Jupiter-X up against our favorite regular contender, the cool and confident Korg Prologue 16 (with strength-enhancing low frequency compressor!)

Who will win in this battle of super synth sounds? Are there even such things as winners and losers in the sonic battleground that is the modern music producers studio? Yes there are. And these are both winnnnerrssssss.

Couldn't get rid of that Deepmind12 fast enough, though. Sorry."

TomaTekAudio Demos

This is a follow-up to this post where you will find details on TomaTekAudio's new modules. You can find them on Etsy here.

"Thomas Hopman made an awesome Multimode Filter module for the Eurorack format which he was so kind to let me demo, so here are some soundbits I made using the different filter modes. Hope you like!

--------------------------------------------

A bit more on the signal path:

All audio demos are recorded using the following audio path:

Generator -> Tomatek MMVCF -> Erica Synths Black Hole DSP 1 -> Stereo out to Befaco Hexmix -> Befaco Output v3 -> Zoom H6

Most Demos are recorded using an input gain level of around 11:30 on the dail.

My system is a bit noisey and these demos are far from audiophile quality, but I hope they give the character and sound of the filter the attention they deserve.

--------------------------------------------

A bit more on the module:

The Tomatek Audio MMVCF.

a AS3320 based 12dB per Octave multi-mode filter module, with separate outputs for Low-Pass, Notch, Band-Pass and High-Pass.

Featuring:

- CV control over Filter Cutoff and Resonance, with a fixed V/Oct input, switchable attenuation/attenuversion on the FM input and attenuation on the Resonance CV input.

-Self-resonance with accurate temperature compensated V/Oct tracking over approximately 5 to 6 octaves.

-Input gain control with a soft-clipping circuit that kicks in at around the 12o'clock setting. Allowing for clean tones till unity-gain and soft-clipping and eventually hard-clipping the filter front-end at higher gain settings. When used in conjunction with a VCA before the filter, this will allow for a nice range of extra tones.

"Kawai SX240 in excellent condition, very little use, if you know how these behave when they've gotten a lot of use - Forget it.

It looks almost new apart from a few scuffs on the woodens sides, please see pics.

Screen is bright and buttons react very well, jog wheel perfectly.

Brand new battery replacement and Tauntek chip installed and the original hardcase is included.

Sounds like a dream: fat, versatile, flexible, it's all there - all factory presets except the two that we tried out for an extra memory check up.

Midi checked and fully compatible."
