"Moog prodigy in lovely condition, was recently serviced by a local technician. Sound is clean, pots and keybed respond as expected.

This unit hasn't been recapped, the original capacitors were tested for leakage and are still in good shape.

The wood sides finish has been starting to flake off but there aren't any deep scratches. I personally like the worn sides as they give the instrument its own character but they can easily be refinished."

Best Ambient Synth Shootout #99: Böhm Dynamic 4x9 - Song 3

Christian's Sonic Spaces

"This is the third song with the Boehm Dynamic 4x9. It's a German FM-synthesizer from mid-80s that were only available as DIY project. It uses 12(!) Yamaha ICs of the type YM2203, which were commonly used in home computers from NEC as well as in arcade games until the early 90s. Each of the ICs has 3 FM-voices for an overall 36 voices 4-part polyphony.

I used for the recording the following FX for the song:

DigiTech Obscura, Pigtronix Echolution 2 Deluxe, GFI System Specular Reverb 2.

Depending on the recorded track some FX are deactivated. The signal went through a Presonus StudioLive 16.0.2 into the PC for recording. To create the complete song I recorded consecutively several stereo tracks. The final song was then mastered with a bit EQ and compression on some tracks and some limiting on the master track."

Sequential Prophet-5 Rev 4 + DrumBrute Sketch

San Stacks

"Super quick, uh, "jam". Still no doubts over here: The Prophet-5 Rev 4 is pretty much one of the best synthesizers I've ever played. This was tracked to LUNA through a UA Apollo x8p using the Unison V76 Preamps and a smidge of LA-2A compression. In LUNA, I tend to enable the Neve summing bus and also use the ATR-102 tape option. Because that shit sounds RIGHT."

Micro Synth ParipiDestroyer with KORG volca beats by Shangri-La

Shangri-la S

"Hello friends. I play a brand new micro synth 'ParipiDestroyer' produced by DigiLogTokyo's sub-brand 'Crazy Synth Kids'. This cute and very tiny synthesizer provides intense bass sounds despite its cute looks. Paripi is the meaning of "Party People" This is so dope! How you play is up to you. It is a size that you can carry anytime and anywhere in a real sense."

See this post for details on the ParipiDestroyer.

A Tincture As Needed

davidryle

"A 5U modular patch with the new STG Soundlabs Oscillators. Using a pair of synthesizers.com Q960 step sequencers and a pair of STG Envelope Generators as well as a Post Lawsuit LPF and Yusynth Arp 4072 filter. Other processors include EchoFix tape delay, Maestro phase shifter, Klark Teknik 3rd Dimension and Hedra pitch shifter. The modulation aspect of the STG VCO's is very useful for detuning right on the front panel. These are very alive sounding and have plenty of character."

V.A.I. 2 : Farfisa Soundmaker - Steelphon S900 - Elka Drummer One - Binson Echorec 2

Vintage Audio Institute Italia

"Not too much too explain here, the big Elka Drummer in the video is an odd piece of gear, it's the classic drum machine but built in to a huge speaker.

Fun fact: Drummer-one means Big Drum in Italian slang.

The Farfisa Soundmaker is a polyphonic string machine and mono-synth with a lot of fun modulation options on board.

The Steelphon S900 is a dual oscillator monophonic synth from 1972 with tons of modulation capabilities, programmable presets (!) and use the famous Moog ladder filter.
With White and Pink noise that you can route to control the filter and tone this thing can really sound huge and is one of the very best italian Monophonic synths ever made.
If you'd like to know more - check out our video of Steelphon S900 here: [posted here, also see this one]

We make these videos as a showcase for our studio and for curious vintage heads - and for fun.

We don't dilly-dally too much with production and mixing but it can sound pretty good with headphones on."
