An analog multi-effect in 2020? | Finegear Dust Collector

HAINBACH

'In which I review the Finegear Dust Collector, an almost all-analog multi-effect that is bold and beautiful."

See the Finegear label for more.

Quadrantid Swarm by Eowave

Cinematic Laboratory

'I had my eye on this one since I saw it in Paul Tas' personal Error Instruments case. While my module was on its way 'home', I saw Mylar Melodies' video using it in a techno set. I was already sold, but wow I did not expect the QS to be that cool. Unfortunately mine came without a spring reverb and I am not sure the Eurorack version includes one. Oh well, nothing a Desmodus Versio can't fix."

Motor Synth - dark, ambient woodworking in the night

Floyd Steinberg

"Here's your reminder that the #MotorSynth deserves more attention and fanfare and is very capable of creating great-sounding melodic #electromechanical #ambient music. Motor Synth is an electromechanical synthesizer which generates sound by spinning drone motors. All the sounds in this track were created on this machine and recorded to 4 tracks one after the other (pad, bass, arpeggiator, lead). I used the 'arpeggiator per oscillator' feature on this track for the bass patch and the filtered saw wave thing.
Effects pedals were set up like this: Motor Synth - Strymon Iridium - ZOOM MS100BT - Source Audio Nemesis - Strymon BigSky
Hope you like it, and apologies to @Gamechanger Audio for the practical cinematographic jokes therein. Hope you take it lightly. :-) :-) :-) (In fact, those guys and girls are very cool and sent me hardware revision containing dampers yesterday, so you will see the new and much less noisy version of this machine again in the future)."

Waldorf Q: Cybernaut

wedream2

"Waldorf Q in Multi mode: 4 keyboard zones: Noise effect, sequence, brass, oboe. The sequence consists of a percussion track and a transposable bass line. The transposed key changes after the current cycle. The song is Cybernaut from the 1971 electronic album 'Zero Time' by Tanto's Expanding Headband. The Q's multitimbrality allows such real time performance. Recorded on IPhone."

Goldbaby end of year free packs

GoldbabySamples

"I have made 2 free packs as an early 2020 Christmas present!

The first is called Toy Record Sounds. It was created using a toy record maker manufactured by a Japanese toy company called Gakken. Designed by Yuri Suzuki, it makes small plastic records. Very, very Lofi and super fun.

There are two versions:

One contains patches for Ableton Live, Kontakt, Battery, Logic Pro and Geist. You can download it from here: https://www.goldbaby.co.nz/freestuff....

The other one is for Maschine and can be downloaded here: https://www.goldbaby.co.nz/maschine.html

The second free pack is called ND2 VS Plasma Kicks.
This pack was created using two of my favourite recent purchases, the Plasma Pedal and the Nord Drum 2. A marriage made in heaven/hell...

Download it from here: https://www.goldbaby.co.nz/freestuff...."

Gumball Sound Capsule

mitch altman

Wait for it.

"GumballSoundCapsule is a small sound-making project with 3 blinking lights.
It fits in a 50mm diameter gumball machine capsule.
Way low cost (about 1€ each if you make 10 of them).

It comes with a pre-programmed 28-second composition (which is kind of crazy). The sound is generated by Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) from a wave table, so it can make complex, interesting sounds. (If you feed the output into a recorder, the sound is way cool!)

The complete documentation for this open hardware project is at: https://github.com/maltman23/GumballS..."

Roland RS-09 Organ / String Synthesizer

"Roland RS-09 in great working condition with some minor cosmetic wear. Paint is chipped here and there and the "tone" slider cap is unoriginal. *Please note, the right side panel has three plugged holes. This side panel is from a ex midi-modded Roland TR-808, there are no circuit modifications to this synthesizer.

The RS-09 is an analog string and organ synthesizer. The string sound and organ sounds are nice, fatty analog sounds. The organ and string sections can be played simultaneously or individually. An ensemble/chorus effect and external sound input are welcome features. A simple 2-vco architecture, hard to make this synth sound bad!"

"Jupiter 4!! Roland's first polyphonic synthesizer that kicked off the revolution of famous Jupiter and Juno synthesizers of the 80s. This lovely instrument sports that original 70s Roland synth look with the nice chunky design, shiny knobs and preset control panel below the keys, one of the later models with this aesthetic. The sound is nice and warm due to the VCOs but it is easy to see how Roland's other polysynths evolved from this point. The layout is very similar to the Junos with a simple but effective control scheme that is hard to make a bad sound with. Of course this is a very early computer controlled synthesizer as well, allowing saving of 8 user presets, compuphonic! Its truely an amazing experience playing the Jupiter 4. It is incredible sounding and such a breeze to program, don't forget the amazing ensemble effect and built in arpeggiator. The LFO can even reach up to audio rate allowing for some awesome polyphonic filter oscillator FM. Its easy to see why the Jupiter 4 is an absolute classic.

This Jupiter is in great shape for its age with normal wear and tear but no missing button caps, switches or knobs. It was recently serviced and tuned and is working just as it did 40 years ago. Message with any questions! Non-original vinyl cover included."
