"Hi all! It took me a while to finish this one. It becan with the idea to use my Christmas tree and Instruo Scion to make a patch. Sadly, the tree did not show any activity so I switched to a 'christmas star' plant. Then our government switched the Netherlands back to full lockdown since this morning and the plant didn't feel like playing any happy tunes. Regardless, I just couldn't skip this one and wait for better days. After a full year, we're back to square one. So it's a good time to wish you all the best. Stay safe, stay healthy and live long and prosper!"

"Ho-Ho-Ho! This is Synthmas '21, the virtual calendar presenting a Christmas carol played by synthesizers - every day from 1st to 24th of December.

The song:
Also a secular Carol, 'Am Weihnachtsbaum die Lichter brennen' (On the Christmas tree the lights are burning) is about the Christmas vibes and puts a view especially on the Christmas tree. Christmas trees are mentioned for the first time in German historical documents of the 15th century. The tradition of having a decorated Christmas tree in private homes started in 18th century but was a privilege of the rich. When mid of the 19t century The Illustrated Londons News published a picture of queen Victoria and prince Albert of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha celebrate Christmas showing a decorated tree, it started a trend. By deliberated culturing firs and spruces Christmas trees became available for a broader public.

The gear:
This arrangement is played by one synth only, the Waldorf Blofeld but using different sound patches. Synths that can play more than one patch at a time are called multi-timbral. Four different patches are used for this song. I wanted to give this song the touch of a music box. My great grandfather built a music box when he was a war prisoner in WW1 that plays this song. So I always have this familie's heirloom in mind when the song is played.

"This unit was fully tested. The 2 arpeggiator knobs were replaced with original Dave Smith Instrument Poly Evolver knobs. The envelope release fader is broken - the shaft wobbles but the fader still works. We recommend being very gentle with it or, preferably, replacing it. We contacted Novation for the part but they weren’t very helpful. It’s possible they used a generic part that’s still available, or there’s a chance this fader may be repairable (not sure about this though). All encoders, switches, keys and other sliders are working well and feel fine. Sounds great."

"This is one of 2 units we’re selling right now. We bought them both from industrial band Die Warzau quite a while ago. This unit's been serviced and has been fully tested and is working great. Power was switch removed, opened, cleaned and reassembled and reinstalled. Cleaned and lubed all pots."
