Digitakt, microcosm | still. | live ambient performance

video upload by patchesinblue

"still.

this video is a live performance of ‘still.’, a track that i’ve been working on in the studio for a while. the full version is a work in progress, but it’s shaping up to be a piece that will make its way onto an EP.

playing it live feels emotionally different from the studio version, but i think both capture what i’ve wanted to express.

‘still.’ is a reflection on how some feelings & memories have their way of staying with us, no matter how much time passes—like old photographs tucked away in a book you forgot to finish reading, only to resurface with all their colors intact and unchanged; they've been persisting quietly in the background.

musically, 'still.' is built around a single melodic phrase that repeats and layers upon itself, shifting and evolving slightly with each repetition. each line comes from one of the eight voices on the digitakt. the morphagene starts the line initially and then goes on to morph into other ideas as the piece progresses. these overlapping lines blur together, creating a sound that feels full yet indistinct, much like how memories work over time. as time goes by, we revisit the same moments again and again, but each time the details shift, overlap, and blend, forming a kind of collage—an imprint of a time long gone, yet somehow always familiar. i hope you enjoy listening to it.

i want to take a moment to thank everyone who’s been here with me supporting my work—whether you’ve been listening from the beginning or just discovered it, i’m truly grateful for the time you take to engage with my music.

on a personal note, i’m looking for opportunities where my music can be a good fit, so if you or someone you know is looking for original music for a project, please feel free to reach out to me. thank you.

HOME BAKE INSTRUMENTS ARPS Arpeggio Sound Generator

ARPS DEMO video upload by HOME BAKE INSTRUMENTS

via Home Bake Instruments

ARPS is a synthesizer module that creates fantastic sounds from scale arpeggios.

The combination of four oscillators, a chaotic note generator, and an envelope creates
infinitely beautiful phrases.

Controls:

CLOCK
Set the frequency ofnotes.

ROOT
Sets the base note of the scale output by the Note Generator.

SCALE
Sets the scale scale output by the Note Generator.

RANGE
Sets the width (upper limit) of the scale output by the Note Generator.

WAVETABLE
More than 200 waveforms are recorded, and these can be smoothly changed.

ENVELOPE
Set the envelope attack and release percentages.

If you turn it all the way to the left, it will change to an arpeggio sound, and if you turn it to the right, it will change to a reverse sound with a gentle attack.

If the frequency of CLOCK is high, it should be set to an appropriate value.

TRG Jack
When a signal enters the TRG jack, the clock generator integrates its own signal
with the input signal and outputs it.

An Absolute Goldmine For Atmospheric Music

"There is something so simple and peaceful about the OP-1F paired with the Hologram Microcosm. In Today's video we pair the ambient dream team with the Elektron Digitakt II, Syntakt, and the Octatrack running my newest template, the Hyper FX template. We are going to make some chill 150 bpm minimal drum and bass."

Pics of the inside below.

"This Prophet VS is is good condition and sounds wonderful.

Because this is an old vintage synthesizer, I want to note a few things to be as transparent as possible related to its condition:

The internal power supply seems to give some vibration off. You can hear a very slight audible hum, and can feel a slight buzzing on the left side of the keyboard when your hands are on the keys. A replacement power supply would probably be a good idea at some point. But all in all the power works just fine otherwise.

The buttons all work, but sometimes a couple of them seem to press twice when you press once, or you need to press twice to press once. This seems fairly normal for a synth this age. I'd recommend either cleaning or replacing some of them as needed, but they are still very much usable as-is.

The LCD is original and the backlight is still bright.

The aftertouch does not work. I believe this is a common problem and would need to be addressed if you want to use aftertouch.

Firmware is 1.0. There are a few different options for upgrades to firmware. This version:
v1.0 - Has Diagnostic features and free-running LFO's

All voices work, filter, chorus, voice panning, detune, modulation, splits, doubles, the joystick, buttons, data slider, LCD, volume, balance, storing, s&h, mod wheel, pitch wheel, both L/R audio outputs, and MIDI in and out. I have not tested the cartridge port or foot switch ports."
