Deux Chevaux (2hp - get it?)

video upload by Memetune Studio

"Here I am exploring some 2hp tiny little euro rack modules - putting them up against one of the first and mightiest modulars of all time

The 2hp modules are: 2 x Loop, a Pitch and a Delay - and the combination gets us some very nice (in my opinion) 'Concrete' behaviour

This piece is pretty much a live performance, I set up 1 pass of the Buchla going to Loop module 1, set it to loop round, repeated this going to Loop 2 and then I had a live pass going through the Pitch and Delay which I messed about with alongside manipulating the Buchla settings (mostly Gate attack and decay settings, and controlling 3 VCOs pitch with the Touch Keys)

The 3 mono channels were panned and recorded down at the same time - kinda playing along to the Loops in real time. The video was faked - ie I ran out of hands so I filmed it afterwards, but you can see the patch cables - they are the same as the recording patch

Hope that makes sense

Bye!"

Explaining Solar installation quantum cloud

"Solar Installation — A Music Box from the Future

Solar Installation is an experimental synthesizer — a bridge between art, sound, and technology. It reimagines how we interact with music, offering a different and deeply artistic way to explore and create sounds.

At its core lies a patch bay that opens up endless sonic possibilities. By experimenting with its connections, you can discover countless “sweet spots” where unexpected textures and tones emerge. The engine itself is alive with movement, evolving harmonics, and shifting layers of sound.

An integrated effects processor lets you transform these tones even further, adding lo-fi echoes, delays, and atmospheric modulations to shape entirely new sonic landscapes.

What truly sets Solar Installation apart is its dual-mode oscillators. Each of the four oscillators can be controlled in two unique ways:

• Precision Mode – using traditional potentiometers for accurate, tactile manipulation.
• Light Interaction Mode – using highly sensitive light sensors that respond to movement and changes in illumination.

This makes the instrument behave like an interactive installation. By positioning it in different lighting environments or allowing natural shadows to play across its sensors, the machine evolves on its own, creating ever-changing, generative music.

Sometimes, it behaves like a futuristic music box — a self-driven system producing evolving patterns, unexpected harmonies, and “happy accidents.” It invites you to let go of control and embrace the beauty of randomness, where sound becomes an organic, living experience.

Solar Installation exists between instrument and sculpture, science and art, intention and chaos. It’s not just about making music — it’s about exploring possibilities.

STEREO DRADD is an experimental time-based audio processor for the eurorack system. The module can stretch, bend and invert time through granular synthesis, modified sample playback and tapped delay lines. Intended as a tool for adding synthetic and unnatural ambiance/coloration to your synth patches.

OXI Instruments Introduces Split 2 and Split 2hp

video upload by OXI Instruments

"Today we’re looking at the brand new OXI Split 2 and Split 2hp — two tiny but powerful tools that make it easier than ever to connect your OXI One to all your instruments.

We’ll walk you through what’s new, how they work, and why they might be the missing piece in your setup."

"The OXI Split 2, MIDI breakout box, is an efficient and inexpensive solution for users whose setup relies on MIDI connections. It is the easiest way to connect several MIDI devices, such as synths or drum machines, to the OXI One.

The Split provides:

2x MIDI DIN Out
4x MIDI TRS Outs
Select Between MIDI Out or MIDI Thru
It increases data transfer capacity and the number of MIDI channels up to 96.

To use it, simply connect the Split to the OXI One with the TRS cable included.
OXI Split 2 works for OXI One and OXI One MKII. But it doesn’t work when connected to other MIDI devices."

Tangible Waves CD40106 Oscillator BRAEDBOARD Build and JAM

1. CD40106 Oscillator BRAEDBOARD Build and JAM 1|πŸŽΆπŸ”ŒπŸŽΉ | #synthesizer #electronicmusic #diysynth
I got a BRAEDBOARD (not a typo) breadboard module for an AE modular synth a while ago. I've only just managed to install it. So I thought I'd try some example circuits out from the AE modular Wiki, just to see if it works ok, and also before I go onto something more complex.

00:00 Intro to the BRAEDBOARD.
01:19 Fitting the module into the synthesizer.
03:55 Building the CD40106 oscillator.
04:46 Trying out with the basic oscillator.
05:56 Adding a filter to it. Altering cutoff and resonance.
06:57 Sequencing the filter cutoff.
08:35 The rest of the jam.

Building a rough CD4106 FM oscillator on a breadboard and making some horrible sounds with it......
Also running it through a sequenced filter and adding some lofi drums.

Dialing a Phone is Playing a Song

video upload by MAKEN0ISE

"'Dialing a phone is playing a song,' says guest host Pete! In this video, we discuss the informational-sonics of the Touch Tone age, as well as strategies for synthesizing these nostalgic sounds with gear you likely have at home!

Timestamps for the various topics covered can be found below:

Intro: 0:00
Tone Dialing Frequencies: 1:05
Tuning Strategy: 2:51
Dial Tone: 3:27
Ringback Tone: 4:09
Busy Tone: 4:46
Handset Speaker: 6:08
Dial-Up Modem: 8:56
Outro: 11:10

Tuning is a big part of the patches covered here, and the frequencies referenced throughtout can all be found in this document: https://condor.depaul.edu/sjost/361/m...

Additionally, as indicated in the overview of the final patch, recommended settings can be found below:

"The Dial-Up Modem"

To begin, press PGM-A and PGM-B together to enter the 0-Coast's Arpeggiator mode.

Next, engage Cycle on Slope and set Rise and Fall fully CCW, with Shape set to Expo. Patch the EOC out to the Tempo input of the 0-Coast's Clock section.

Panel settings
Balance: fully CCW
Contour: Onset is CCW, Sustain is CW, Decay is 9:00 or so. Shape is your choice but Log is a good place to start.
Oscillator pitch is around 10:00
Overtone and Multiply do not matter in this patch— with Balance set fully CCW we will not be hearing their effects.
Dynamics: 3:00

Finally, patch a MIDI controller to the 0-Coast's MIDI input and play some chords— the arpeggiator will cycle through them at audio rate, producing timbres similar to those of the classic Dial-Up Modem sound.

What are some of your favorite sounds from the Touch Tone age? Do you ever use them in your music? Share memories and links in the comments below!

EMS Synthi vs. RSF Kobol (aka England vs. France)

video upload by analogia pl

"This is one of many sound studies I’ve called England vs. France, which will eventually be released as an album. I’ve used EMS synths for over two decades, but my life changed after I came into possession of the Kobol — one of the least popular, yet absolutely fascinating, monosynths."
