Buchla 100 analog modular music synthesizer

via this auction

"very rare Buchla 100 analog music synthesizer from the 1970 time frame. The analog sound is very rich and organic as a result of Don Buchla's innovative electronic circuit design that is largely based on discrete transistor circuitry. This raw organic sound quality when combined with the unusual control techniques is fundamental to the so called San Francisco West coast sound... This cabinet was part of a larger Buchla 100 system... Control voltages sources include a touch controlled voltage source, a 16 stage 3 output sequencer, a dual attack generator, envelope follower and timing source. External audio processing includes a dual microphone preamplifer, dual spring reverb and a very rare frequency shifter. Internal sound sources include sin, saw and squarewave oscillators and a white noise generator. The system includes several filters including the very rare and desirable 191 sharp cutoff filter.

Top row - 170 dual microphone preamplifier, 130 envelope detector, 185 frequency shifter, 190 dual reverb, 175 equalizer
Second row - 158 dual sine-sawtooth generator, 160 white noise generator, 106 six channel mixer, 191 sharp cutoff filter
Third row - 180 dual attack generator, 110 dual voltage controlled gate, 106 six channel mixer, 194 bandpass filter, 144 square wave generator
Fourth row - 140 timing pulse generator, 146 sequential voltage source
Fifth row - 112 touch controlled voltage source"

Well, not technically, but I'm sure you can use these rings for some knuckle crushing bling.

Synths of the Radiophonic Workshop

via Andy:
"Thought you might like these pictures of some of the old Radiophonic Workshop synths. I'm working on a show for the BBC Electric proms with Coldcut - they have created a live remix of classic Radiophonic workshop material and we'll be using the old gear along with their stuff.

There's a VCS3, Synthi A, Vocoder, ARP Odessey and the legendary 'Crystal Palace'.We are doing the show next week and it can be heard on Annie Nightingales Radio 1 show and the 6Mix on BBC 6Music, and I think it's being filmed for online as well."

Studio Electronics ObieRack - VEMIA

via this VEMIA auction
"Absolutely wonderful! I'm not sure there is anything on this magnificent machine to give any clue it isn't brand-new, but because it must be 15 years old or more (and the actual SEMs much older) I'll only call it near-mint. Fantastic implementation of MIDI control of two classic SEMs, very rare in any form, and (we think!) even rarer in this beautiful black-faceplate form. One owner from new (Ed Starink) and just completely beautiful in its cosmetic condition and incredible working order and sound. One of THE great synths, and we think Studio Electronics' best adaptation ever! We will pack this very very carefully, as befits something of this quality. Will come with copies of all the user documentation possible."

Studio Electronics-SE1 - VEMIA

via this VEMIA auction

"From Ed Starink's private studio, bought from new, and now at VEMIA for good packing and shipping. Superb condition, both in working and cosmetic order. Apart from a couple of scratches on the top, not visible once the synth is racked, and a little marking on the top left of the left rack ear (possibly white paint, and totally superficial) this is like new. Sounds fantastic, too. With original instruction manual by Greg St. Regis."
