Ack!!! Watch out for them scorpions!!!!
"No, this isn't a new synth- it's my old Voyager which seems to have a weird propensity to attract the scourge of the American Southwest. When I first received it (about ten years ago) I was picking up the box from delivery at my door, and of course there was a scorpion underneath it. Now, scorpions kinda freak me out (yeah, I know, not a great combination living in the SW) but fortunately my lovely wife who fears no creature took care of him. When we moved to our new house 2007, I was setting up my studio in the extra bedroom, and of course there was another one under the synth itself as I picked it up to place it on its stand- I jumped five feet in the air holding a 45 lb (20 Kg) synth! Wife was not home, so I used the vacuum cleaner to suck him up, then placed the vacuum cleaner out in the middle of the cul-de-sac to wait for her to come home and take care of it- scorpions survive vacuum cleaners just fine, thank you. She was not pleased. OK, today I was packing up my Voyager to go back to Ashville for a Recalibrate/Retune, and I was just taping up the box in the middle of the hallway; when I straightened up to admire my handiwork THWAP!! this absolutely huge scorpion fell from the ceiling and landed right on the box! Literally a half-second sooner it would have landed right on the back of my head/neck! The fact that it was on the ceiling proves that it is a bark scorpion, which happens to be the only poisonous scorpion indigenous to North America.
This is just too coincidental- too bad you can't post pics/vids here but if anyone is remotely interested I have pics to prove it. I am completely freaked out. My wife thinks it's hilarious….I'm still shaking like a leaf. If this happens one more time, I am sending my Voyager free, postage paid, to the first person who emails me. Hopefully you live in a cold climate, where it won't be a problem!"
