Synapse Audio Dune 3: 50 Vintage Arp Presets. Sound Demo/Jam

video upload by Anton Anru

📻 “Nostalgic Flow” is a bank of 50 arpeggio presets for Synapse Audio Dune 3.
In this bank, I wanted to explore the plugin's broad sonic capabilities, including various filter modes, filter FX, different oscillator types, and effects. I extensively modulated the parameters of these modules using tempo-synced LFOs and MSEGs to create dynamic sound.
I also carefully worked with arpeggio parameters to add complexity—some presets even sound like sequences or chords.

💾 The bank covers a wide range of timbres: warm, deep, dreamy, soft, noisy, bright, dark, distorted, cold, metallic. They will fit many genres, styles, arrangements, and mixes.

🎛 All presets respond to Velocity, affecting volume and brightness, allowing for accents in the pattern.
ModWheel adds expression to the sound through filter opening, detuning, vibrato, or additional movement.

💎 The soundset is universal, the arpeggios are suitable for all genres of electronic music, including Techno, House, Trance, Lounge, Downtempo, Funk, Disco, Pop, Acid, Hardcore, IDM, Drum'n'Bass, Breaks, Breakbeat, Trap, Electro, Ambient, Dubstep, EDM, Synth-Pop and others.

💡 Ensure that you are using the latest software version.
To add presets to the collection, open the plugin Browser, click Menu in the upper left corner, then select Import Folder, and specify the folder on your computer.

You can find demos of the Jen Synx 508 in additional posts here.

"Jen Synx 508, a extremely rare analog synthesizer, aimed at a collector who can get it working properly. Aesthetically, it's almost perfect, but it has some functional issues that need fixing:

- The sequencer seems to work, but we don't know exactly how to program it.
- Some buttons (hold, memory...) take a while to respond keeping it pressed. As it seems its not a problem of the switches, may be a factory bug.
- Envelope calibration can be improved in some voices.
- Resonance seems unstable, probably is a calibration issue as we're not sure if the filter is supposed to self-oscillate in this synth, but we calibrated it as if it were supposed to.
- The Phaser/Ensemble/Chorus effects are a little noisy, but we think it may be another factory bug as the BBDs are ok.

We haven't found a user manual, but we do have schematics drawn by an Italian technician. It's believed that the Synx 508 never reached full production, mainly due to the sequencer problems that couldn't be resolved with firmware updates. Apparently, the processor used was quite slow, which caused most of the mentioned issues.

8 banks and 8 sound presets per bank. Each voice card comes with a CEM3310 ADSR Envelope, a CEM3320 24dB/Oct 4-pole Multipass filter, and a CEM3360 Dual VCA. There are 5 voice cards, expandable to 8 if you can find spares.

New battery, almost completely recapped, new potentiometers installed, etc."

Kawai Q-80EX | One of the best 80s sequencers that nobody talks about

video upload by Espen Kraft

"The Kawai Q-80EX midi sequencer from 1989.
An absolute beast of a sequencer yet nobody seems to know it exist or what it can do.
How does it compare to two cherished competitors of the time?

Check out the TG100 plugin here: https://www.martinic.com/tg100-reverb

Big thanks to Anders E. Jensen for letting me have his Q-80EX for almost a decade.
