Kawai / Teisco S-100P Vintage Monophonic Synth with Aftertouch SN K-3715

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

via this auction

"Highly sought-after and rare analogue performance synth with great sounding built-in flanger and spring reverb. The real strength of this synth is how expressive you can be due to the assignable aftertouch.

The S100P is often likened to the Arp Pro Soloist made famous by Tony Banks of Genesis fame, in fact the S100P aftertouch system was manufactured under license from ARP. The aftertouch can be routed to several destinations simultaneously, including pitch bend up/down, filter, vibrato amount and "growl" and the sensitivity is adjustable to suit your playing style.

This example is in perfect working order and it has just been professionally serviced by James Walker of Synth Repair Services so you can be confident that everything works perfectly. As part of the service James has fitted a brand new all-important aftertouch sensor as these tend to harden with age. The new one means you wont have to press hard to activate it.

Cosmetically the synth is in very nice condition for its age with just a few light scratches and some peeling of the veneer on the wooden end panels..."

Oxford Synthesizer Company OSCar SN 0691

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.
via this auction

"Offered for sale is this Oscar in very near mint cosmetic condition and perfect working order.

It is incredibly clean for a synth that's nearly 30 years old and is without doubt the best one we've sold (see detailed photos below). There is minimal wear to the paintwork, the keys are shiny and clean, the rubber casing is exceptionally good with no obvious signs of perishing - the rubber parts are undamaged (most Oscars suffer from these parts breaking off and it's uncommon to find one with no damage).

Our definition of 'mint' is 'as it left the factory' - clearly very few if any used synths of this age can be described thus; this OSCar truly is in near mint condition.

It has just been serviced by James Walker at Synth Repair Services (one of the UK's most respected vintage synth techs who has a particular fondness for OSCars) and he's given it a clean bill of health. He also looked after it for the previous owner: it's been very well-maintained and has had a good deal of work carried out both in the recent service and over the past 8 years. As a result, we don't believe you will find a better example of this iconic British synth anywhere else.

Cosmetically, it has just one issue that we can make out: the low F key is slightly yellower than the others; it may have been replaced at some point in the past. It has been PAT-tested for electrical safety.

At 30 years old OSCars generally need a few things replacing/improving if they are to continue working as intended - especially the Midi board connections which can be very unreliable, resulting in synth that can stop working when moved from one room to another, never mind being sent by courier. The original control pots tend to become unreliable and often need replacing.
Everything necessary and advisable has been done to bring it up to top spec and make this amazing vintage synth as reliable as possible: it should reach its new owner in perfect working order.

It's serial number is 0691 and has the midi board and latest OS Eprom (OM2a)..."

SCI Prophet 5 Rev 2 polyphonic analogue synthesizer

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

via this auction

"The rev 2 used the earlier SSM chips that sound to my ears so much better than the later Curtis chips. The problem with the SSM chips (and probably why they went to the Curtis chips) and more generally the rev 2 was the tuning stability. This is why bands quite often used the rev 2 in the studio but the rev 3 on tour (Talking Heads, Japan etc). This problem has been resolved in the rev2 thanks to the masterly work of James at Synth Repair Services...there are now 8 little pixies running around inside making sure the tuning is just tickety-boo (well thats what James told me)

for the more technically minded, the power supply was upgraded (see toroidal photo), all presets replaced, and very high precision resistors used in DAC circuit. There is probably more to this mod but thats all I could work out from James Walker(Synth Repair Services).

I have been told that this was one of the earlier Prophet 5 rev 2's as it has a smooth panel surface, I have not been able to verify this. If anyone out there is more knowledgeable on the different rev2's it would be great if they could let me know if this is true or not."

Fully Serviced Rhodes Chroma with CC+ MIDI

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.
via this auction

"Offered for sale is this Rhodes Chroma in excellent cosmetic condition and as near perfect working order as could be hoped for. It has had an extensive service and been thoroughly-upgraded for trouble-free use (*remember it is a Chroma!) with no expense spared. The work was carried out by James Walker at Synth Repair Services who even exceeded his usual high standards - we requested that everything possible that could be done should be done.

It has had the CC+ CPU upgrade board installed, which adds additional functionality (including Midi) and stability, and a new SPSU power supply kit by Luca Sfregola. Many original ageing parts have been replaced and the synth has been calibrated and PAT-tested for electrical safety. The results are better than we'd hoped for and the synth autotunes without error practically all the time (we cannot guarantee that it won't fail now and again, it is a Chroma).

It comes loaded with four banks of 50 sounds courtesy of the CC+ kit and sounds fantastic; the wooden keys are a delight to play and overall the synth looks beautiful. This Chroma has had a quiet life and is consequently in very good cosmetic order, with no major flaws to the finish. The wooden end cheeks have some scuffs, dings and staining - as you'd expect from a vintage synth - but there was nothing overly detrimental to its appearance. Some people like a modern re-finish, but we prefer where possible to leave the original and appropriate vintage patina on vintage equipment. There has been no touching up of the paint/metalwork anywhere - a few minor nicks and chips are present. A couple of keys have some very light pitting and the control panel finish is starting to lift around the screws at the very edges. Old Chroma flightcases are notorious for the foam distintegrating and this one was no exception - it has been professionally refoamed to a high standard by 3D cases. Included in the sale is the original dual pedal set, the bound manuals, various program cassettes, and of course the Midi breakout box.

There are no known faults with this synth."

Sequential Circuits Studio 440 SN 00445 with Sound Disk Set, Brochure & Manual

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

via this auction

"Sequential Circuits Studio 440

Drum machine, sampler, sequencer, vintage, analogue filter

This unit has had a very recent service by a professional technician (James Walker of Synth Repair Services).

Totally overhauled. New back-light.

It has been upgraded to the last software release by SCI, for SCSI implementation and OS.

The pads have been replaced with new ones (from Wine Country in the USA).

The data slider has been replaced with a new one (from Wine Country in the USA).

The unit is in full working order. Cosmetically there are a few small marks, but nothing serious. Please see pics!

The Studio 440 is genuinely RARE - this one is number #445 of #500 ever made.

In this sale I am including the following:

Studio 440 unit.

A lot of 3.5” disks containing samples/sounds for the Studio 400 – see pics! One of the boxes is still sealed!!!

Original owners manual plus brochure.

Some background information:

The Studio 440 is like the Grand-Daddy of Sequencing/Sampling Drum and Music Production Machines.

Similar to the MPC60, the Studio 440 has an analogue low-pass filter. The Sequencer is intuitive and quite functional with a capacity of 50,000 notes, 8 separate tracks and a swing function. But unlike its contemporaries, the 440 has some visionary features for its time. MIDI data from the sequencer can be transmitted out so that it can play external MIDI instruments. There is also built-in SCSI for external drives and storage."

Arp Odyssey MK2 2813 Analogue Synthesizer

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

via this auction

"It has been recently (July) fully overhauled by James Walker of Synth Repair Services. It has had all of the input and output sockets replaced with new SwitchCraft sockets. The high level output, which is usually on a phono socket, has been switched over so now the high output is on 1/4" standard jack. It has had a Filter CV input socket fitted to allow CV control of the Low Pass filter, leaving the pedal input free to Osc 2 pitch etc.

In addition it has a new UK power supply, new trimmers, Op amps, keyboard bushes and been recapped. All of the sliders, which with age can get stiff, have been stripped down, cleaned out and relubbed and work like new. To finish it off it has new slider caps fitted and been completely recalibrated and tuned..."

Moog Prodigy analogue synth fitted with CV, Gate & Filter SN 2537X

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

via this auction

"When I bought this a few years ago it had just been serviced by James Walker of Synth Repair Services.

It had also been fitted with a Kenton socket kit on the rear, providing CV, Gate and Filter mono mini-jack inputs - you can run a sequencer through it amongst other things. Normally I wouldn't approve of tinkering with classic models but in this case it really does add 'functionality' + the upgrade is discreet, professionally done and doesn't destroy the appearance..."

OCTAVE CAT SRM Vintage Analogue Duophonic Synth

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

via this auction

"It's just been serviced and calibrated by James Walker at Synth Repair Services, including a full overhaul of the keyboard bushings, new jack sockets, recapped power supply and new slider caps. This synth is in excellent cosmetic condition for its age and sounds great. Inevitably for an instrument that's 30-plus years old, there's a few scuffs and scratches (see many detailed photos below), but overall it's in excellent condition. It runs at 240v.

These classic US synths are vastly underrated and represent excellent value for money compared to their more famous rivals, the Minimoog and Arp Oddyssey. They are hard to find, and highly-rated by synth cognoscenti. The flexible nature of this synth means it really punches above its weight: particularly notable features are the cross modulation options and mixable waveforms. It dates from the mid to late 70s and sounds like a classic 70s American monosynth should: powerful and tonally brilliant. Sound design-wise it's almost limitless with an abundance of bass, leads, and sound effects on tap - it's easy (and very rewarding) to lose yourself for hours programming this beast..."

ARP Odyssey 2800 MK1

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

via this auction

"Up for sale is a mid-1970s vintage ARP Odyssey MK1 analogue synthesizer. This is the rarer black/gold MK1 model with the desirable ARP 4023 filter.

The Odyssey is in beautiful condition for its age and is fully working. Two weeks ago it was serviced by James Walker at Synth Repair Services in Stoke on Trent.

The keyboard feels great and all sliders are smooth and fully intact. The synth has a 230V UK power supply and cable and has also been fitted (by James Walker) with the ARP Odyssey Kenton socket upgrade, which gives additional CV, Gate, Trig and Filter CV inputs on the rear of the synth, making it much more versatile."

Welson KO ( keyboard orchestra ) string synthesizer

Published on Jul 16, 2016 osbornesmith1

Volume gets louder at 1 minute mark.

"Welson KO ( keyboard orchestra )
This was recorded with no added effects.
It has two outputs, one for strings and one for piano & harpsichord.
Very rare Italian string synthesizer from the mid 1970's with a
beautiful analogue tone.
Made by Webo Electronics Co."

Update:

via this auction

"Checked over by James Walker of Synth Repair Services, Stoke on Trent.

It has two outputs. One for strings - violin and cello and one for percussion - piano and harpsichord.
This is really useful for splitting the sounds and running through a delay for example.
It has a beautiful mellow analogue sound and not as harsh as some Italian string machines of the era.
All sounds are fully polyphonic and can be played simultaneously.
It comes with custom made wooden shipping case."

1971 MUSONICS MINIMOOG MODEL D SN 1204

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

via this auction

"Soundgas are pleased to offer for sale this stunning early Minimoog Model D in excellent cosmetic condition and perfect working order.

It's in a finely-crafted Claro Walnut case, (the original case was beyond repair) and has been extensively overhauled by a respected synth tech in the USA. It's just been checked over and tuned/calibrated by James Walker at Synth Repair Services.

It was completed in August 1971 by 'Kip' at the R.A. Moog Inc. plant at Trumansburg, NY.
It's a 110v USA model.
All hardware looks to be original (aside from the case). The attack and decay controls were incorrectly-wired from the factory - the attack knob controls decay and decay knob controls attack: it has been left in this original state (a simple fix to put right, but we felt it to be part of the synth's history/identity - as did the US synth tech who worked on it previously).
Extensive work had been completed on this synth before we bought it to ensure reliability and practicality - this is an early Moog you can play: the tuning and tracking are very impressive for a Mini of this age with its original oscillator board.
All boards have had new metal film capacitors and new electrolytic capacitors.
The trimmers have been changed on the VCA, VCO and power supply boards improved fine tuning.
The filter board has rematched transistors and sounds stunning.
An octave buffer board has been added to the octave selector which, together with the additional wiring on the switches makes for greater stability.
Did we mention that the filter sounds gorgeous?

This Mini sounds and plays every bit as good as it looks: a practical classic and solid investment. The filter is slightly smoother and creamier than later Minis - this Moog has that classic rich larger than life sound."

ROLAND SH-2000

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.
via this auction

"It has been serviced and PAT-tested by James Walker at Synth Repair Services and is in perfect working order
It's in great condition for a synth that's approaching its 40th birthday with minor blemishes and crazing to the paintwork and vinyl finish and a few chips and scuffs to the 'wooden' end cheeks.
There are no major marks/scratches on the keys, all the selector switches are clean and undamaged, the end cheeks bear some chipping/scuffing on their edges, all switches and sliders move freely and noiselessly. Apart from the end cheeks and a few minor scratches, it's in very good condition: it just demands to be used to make funk, disco, prog rock, or whatever cosmic delights you should desire.

This was Roland's second synth (introduced in 1973 following the SH1000) and was the first to feature aftertouch, which makes it a very expressive instrument indeed. From fat and funky wobbly basslines to squelchy soaring leads, this synth delivers (as well as a multitude of 'authentic' recreations of acoustic instruments) - a personal favourite preset is the 'popcorn' (from the disco classic of the same name?)..."
