"Waveformer presents the "Berlin School and Ambient Construction Kit Vol 2" soundbank for Korg Wavestate - available for purchase from https://gumroad.com/waveformer.

This is my second soundbank for the incredible Korg Wavestate synthesizer, built over a period of 6 months in the first half of 2021. The soundbank has 22 original Performances inspired by the Berlin School of Electronic Music, and it continues in the spirit of the first volume released at the end of 2020.

All the Performances are built from four Layers, each with multiple Lanes of Wave Sequences. The Performances use Arpeggiators, allowing you to play a few notes, perhaps a short melodic phrase, and the Arpeggiators and Wave Sequences will take it from there, play the notes in different order and automate the parameters in a musical way. The Performances are designed for live tweaking, taking advantage of the Wave Sequences to modify rhythm, pitch, timbre and dynamics. The individual Layers in a Performance are designed so they both work well together and can play alone – just like individual members of a band.

The accompanying user manual describes each Performance in detail, with a guide to both playing and twisting knobs. It also includes some general tips and tricks for the Wavestate and some insight into how these Performances were built.

"Here's an Ambient / Berlin School style jam that demonstrates the Korg Wavestate's capabilities as a "Melody Maker" - starting off with a simple 6 note melodic played by the arpeggiator, and then letting the Pitch Sequence and Shape Sequence add the occasional fifth and octave shifts, ratchets and note-holds, with random probability per steps and different sequence lengths, transforming the notes of the original melody to a new more complex and never-repeating melodic pattern. I've added patch notes throughout the video, explaining how the melody changes as the wave sequences are introduced and parameters tweaked.

This is my third volume in the “Berlin School and Ambient Construction Kit” series of soundbanks for the amazing KORG Wavestate synthesizer. It was built over a period of 12 months and was completed in April 2023.

The soundbank has 21 original Performances. All Performances contain four Layers with multiple Lanes of Wave Sequences, designed to be easy to tweak and reshape as you play them live. Most of the Layers use Arpeggiators which interact with the Wave Sequences to transform the rhythm, pitch, timbre and dynamics of the notes from the Arpeggiator. Contemporary VCOS for the Korg Wavestate (Part 2)


"These videos demonstrates custom performances and custom multisamples from our latest release, 'Contemporary VCOS', for the Korg Wavestate and Wavestate Native. All the sounds in this video were created with just 3 multisamples of custom patches that were created with the OB-6. Each custom patch uses the vintage knob mode to some extent and we varied the amount of vintage goodness just a little for each sample. All samples were recorded at 24bit/48Khz through our ASP-880 directly into Nuendo. Each multisample contains 61 samples! (5 octaves) The samples were meticulously recorded and edited to ensure the best possible sound quality. The sample loops are long and crossfaded for a seamless playing experience. These are raw samples from the OB-6. No compression, EQ or processing of any kind besides a gentle boost of the gain/volume after capture.

Editor/Librarian
Get the big picture. The Editor/Librarian acts as a second front panel for the wavestate. Realtime display of modulated parameter values and Wave Sequences gives you instant feedback on your creations. Copy and paste sounds, envelopes, LFOs, filter settings, and more. Dive deep into Effects with access to all internal parameters and create your own Effects Presets.

User-requested improvements
You asked, we listened. The new Performance-level Hold feature (via SHIFT-ARP) keeps notes or chords playing, leaving your hands free for moving knobs or playing other instruments. Fit to Scale lets you constrain the Pitch Lane’s output to a specific scale and key—especially useful when playing polyphonically.

Get to your sounds faster. Select Categories for Performances, Programs, Multi-samples, Wave Sequences, and Lanes directly from buttons 1-16. The new “User” Category lets you mark your own sounds, and dual Categories mean that a sound can be assigned to both “User” and “Strings” (for example).

Explore Vector Synthesis
The new Curve parameter lets you control the way that Vector Volume crossfades between points. For maximum volume, use Loud (the original wavestate behavior); for more gentle crossfades, use Smooth (the original Wavestation behavior).

Even more refinements
New gain-scaling options bring out the tonal range of the MS-20 and Polysix filters, and user interface improvements streamline your sound design.
