Stacked & distorted patch on the Rev 2 // Sequential Prophet Rev 2 + Valhalla Shimmer

video upload by Lost Clouds (Tom Green Music)

"I say it all the time but maaannnn I love this synth. This one is built up as two layers with a bunch of mod wheel changes.

Layer A: Only Osc 1 is used - pulse wave, slightly reduced pulse width, muted by cutoff and with a little bit of resonance, decent amount of oscillator slop. Frequency modulation from LFO 1, cutoff modulation from LFO 2. The mod wheel on this layer opens up the filter, reduces the frequency mod, reduces resonance and reduces oscillator slop for an overall cleaner sound to contrast the (eventually) heavily distorted Layer B. There's aftertouch modulation on the LFO2 amount and cutoff though that is used sparingly in this video! The on-board effects slot is running BBD delay.

Layer B: Only Osc 1 again - initially heavily muted by filter cutoff. The mod wheel again opens up the filter, but cranks up the gain on the distortion on the on-board effect slot. It also slightly reduces the VCA Env Amount to stop it from overpowering layer A!

Overall, you get this lovely, soft sound to start - but it transforms into a rich, thick, glorious distorted patch with just the mod wheel!

There are no external effects up to 02:00. Beyond this, Valhalla is used to show the patch in different ways, all the way up to 100% reverb where you get a cool M83/Vangelis-esque pad.

One Synth, One Track // Korg Minilogue XD

video upload by Lost Clouds (Tom Green Music)

"An extremely overdue second installment in the "one synth, one track" series which currently has one other entry Typhon [posted here].

I'm not sure how much longer the Minilogue and I will be spending together, so I figured this was a nice possible send-off. It's a whole lot of fun to play on it's own but making this track was also quite tricky!"

A new favourite patch on the Rev2! // Sequential Prophet Rev2

video upload by Lost Clouds (Tom Green Music)

"I've been digging into stacked patches on the Rev2 a lot over the past few months, and having a wonderful time! This is my favourite patch right now. So much fun to play, especially with the variation from the mod wheel.

The two layers on this one:
A: Lots of movement - shape modulation of both oscillators from LFO1 and then pitch modulation of each oscillator at different rates from LFO2/3 to give a very organic patch. 100% mix reverb from the effects slot, and full Audio Mod of the filter to give some high-end fizz. The mod wheel opens up the filter a little bit and reduces the filter envelope amount to stop the sound from getting too harsh.

B: A double drone - key tracking is turned off for both oscillators and they are tuned a fifth apart (C7 and G7). Layer B again uses a 100% mix reverb, plus a little filter resonance and audio mod, but also includes some low-rate filter modulation from LFO1. The mod wheel controls the VCA Env Amount (essentially the volume!). Layer B sounds very metallic, almost like a dreamy synthy sitary combo, and when added to Layer A gives really thick chords with a glorious continuous drone from the two oscillators."

Minilogue XD - TWICE! // Layering the XD for a full track!

video upload by Lost Clouds (Tom Green Music)

"Still loving the Minilogue XD. An awesome little synth. This track uses just two layers of it, one a plucky arp with a hint of noise for grittiness, and the other a thick, warm pad to round out the sound. Both are running through Soundtoys Decapitator for extra goodness!!"

Sequential Prophet Rev2 + Korg Minilogue XD // just a couple of pads hangin' out

video upload by Lost Clouds (Tom Green Music)

"I haven't uploaded anything in a while but I've really been wanting here we are with a pretty simple but (maybe?) interesting track - a fun pad patch on the Rev2 that uses the aux envelope and filter audio mod for a 'rippling' sound, with some onboard delay to add a rhythmic pulse, then some Minilogue XD soft pads (using the arp!) layered over the top."

Cinematic Synths Vol. 3 // Rev2 + Subsequent37 + Polybrute

video upload by Lost Clouds (Tom Green Music)

"Using one of my favourite new patches on the Polybrute and playing two synths at once (like some kinda pro organ man) for a fun, evolving cinematic track! Sorry about the focus issues - had my camera on the wrong setting...Some patch notes:

Rev2: A 6/8 sequence running through a whole heap of effects - reverb from Valhalla Shimmer, resonant filtering from Soundtoys FilterFreak and delay (running at 80bpm in a 110bpm track for an extra unsteady feeling) from Soundtoys Echoboy. The filter on the Rev2 opens up as the track progresses which adds resonance and lovely harmonics from both the Rev2 filter but also from FilterFreak.

Sub37: A classic thick, rich bassy patch that uses all 3 oscillators and some subtle pitch wobble for maximum fatness. Running through Valhalla Shimmer and Soundtoys Echoboy.

Polybrute: The same patch from my last video, but this time working as an awesome ethereal sounding lead. Uses an arpeggiated patch running through a 100% wet reverb - check out the previous video for more info on the patch!

Others: Percussion hits and strings that very briefly appear are from the Spitfire Audio Albion Tundra library."

DREADBOX NYMPHES - 4 Custom Patches // NO TALKING // Raw Sounds + Effects

video upload by Lost Clouds (Tom Green Music)

"I've spent a little more time with the Nymphes now and wanted to showcase a few of the patches I've made so far - first without effects, and then with added effects from the Typhon (which I think really help the Nymphes shine).

I've got mixed feelings about the Nymphes, some really interesting features but a few unusual quirks too - let me know if you'd be interested in a review video!

0:00 Gritty Duo Mode
1:52 Mono Lead/Bass
4:11 Poly Sequence + Chorus
5:42 Bandpass-esque Poly"

DREADBOX NYMPHES - It's here!! // Using the Typhon as an effects box

video upload by Lost Clouds (Tom Green Music)

"After a long wait the Nymphes is finally here!! I'm excited to dive into the raw sound of it more, but the first thing I wanted to do was route it through the Typhon and use some of those lush effects on the Dreadbox polyphonic goodness. The S-Curve distortion sounds gorgeous, especially when used with the Clouds reverb."

Cinematic Track | Moog Subsequent 37 - Sequential Prophet Rev2 - Arturia Polybrute

video upload by Lost Clouds (Tom Green Music)

"Download this track here:

Found a track I started making 3 years ago with nothing but the M32 and Rev2, updated it to include the synths I now have and recorded a video to go with it!"

Fun with Arps Vol4 | Sequential Prophet Rev2 & Moog Subsequent 37

video upload by Lost Clouds (Tom Green Music)

"The fourth entry in the Fun with Arps series! This one uses a really interesting plucky patch I made on the Rev2 that uses the built-in delay, filter audio modulation and plenty of LFO modulation to make a truly beautiful sound, especially when running through Valhalla Shimmer! Lead parts provided by the Rev2 and Sub37, again running through Valhalla Shimmer."

Sequential Prophet Rev2 - Soft Keys Patch

video upload by Lost Clouds (Tom Green Music)

"Been SUPER busy with real life recently hence the lack of content...but I was sitting down with the Rev2 the other day and created this beautiful soft keys-style patch. 3 years later and this thing still brings me so much joy :) I'm hoping to have some more patch from scratch and other fun content soon, just need to get back into the swing of things!"

Dreadbox Typhon - One Synth, One Track, Two Hours

video upload by Lost Clouds (Tom Green Music)

"Getting stuck in a creative rut always sucks, but forcing yourself to just write for a couple of hours always seems to help - you never know what might come out! Here's a track made with just the Typhon (+ some Valhalla Shimmer on patches that already use the FX3 slot for delay). This thing is an inspiration machine, it sounds so good in so many different situations and fits into a mix really well. Love it!!

Some of the patches in this video are available as part of a new Typhon patch pack I've released:

A full video demonstration of all the patches will be out in a week or two, but the patches are available for purchase now!

The patches in the pack include the main plucky sequence (Sequoia), the constant plucky noise around 1:00 (Pan), the epic BWAAHH sounds (BWAH) and the resonant lead (Resonant). Check out the patches if you're interested :)"
