"Modal Electronics brought a pre-production prototype to our offices for a first look. Its a 4 voice poly synths, DSP based with two oscillators (each with up to 4 layers), sequencer, arpeggiator, distortion and delay FX, 8 modulation slots."

"We confess, the Modal Electronics SKULPT got hidden behind something else on our instrument racks - it being so small, but we rediscovered it during a long overdue studio clearup. We thought we'd pair it up with the Arturia MicroFreak, stick them both into the Ventris Dual Reverb (a favourite of ours for its routing flexibility and well, the sound)

The Micro Freak is supplying the mono bass sound - has a Chemical Brothers vibe to it we think, and the SKULPT the harmonic pads."

The Modal Electronics Skulpt is a 4 voice Polysynth and although it dwarfs the OP-Z, it's a great little Synth that looks very capable.

Connected to OP-Z via a USB C OTG and a Roland UM-ONE mkII.

Drums coming from OP-Z, Skulpt doing the pads and chords."

"Modal Electronics Argon 8 is an 8 voice digital wavetable synthesizer with full size keys - although only three octaves.

It shares much of the DNA from the SKULPT, which we also reviewed and enjoyed. Even though it's a digital machine, still capable of some lovely organic sounds.

The Argon 8 shares these characteristics, but with an expanded set of controls, 3 FX generators, up to 512 step sequencer and an arpeggiator, plus the distinctive Modal joystick."
