Let’s explore frequency shifting – with the Doepfer A126-2

video upload by Monotrail Tech Talk

"Today we are diving into frequency shifting with the new Doepfer A-126-2 Frequency Shifter! Frequency shifting isn’t one of the most common effects, but it offers a lot of creative sound design options and patching possibilities. You can add textures and effects to synth lines, modulate or create percussive sounds, or just try and experiment with the frequency shifter in FM patches and feedback loops.

In this video I quickly explain the difference between pitch and frequency shifting, go over the functions and features of the A-126-2, and then start exploring some sounds with a series of patch ideas.

How to get more out of analog delay - with Erica Synths Black BBD

video by Monotrail Tech Talk

"Today we are going in depth with analog delay, using the new Erica Synths Black BBD. The BBD is a great sounding analog delay with a wide time range, thanks to a combination of two bucket brigade delay chips, and a lot of CV control over it’s features.

In this video we start with a quick overview of the new module, and then we dive into a series of patch-tips and ideas. From spacious stereo delays, to using a delay as a sound shaping tool, and finally some patches to create drones and textures with a delay. Hope you enjoy!

How to create complex bouncing ball simulations - with ADDAC 503 Marble Physics

video upload by Monotrail Tech Talk

"The ADDAC 503 Marble Physics is a module that simulates the behavior of a ball on a square plane. The plane can be tilted over two axes, and you can control things like the elasticity off the edge of the plane, and simulation speed. That sounds like fun, but in this video I also show how it can be used to create interesting patches, and control voltages."

Sound design using through-zero phase modulation – LA67 T-ZED oscillator

video upload by Monotrail Tech Talk

"Today we are having a look at through-zero phase modulation! An interesting variation to the common frequency modulation, offering new sounds and textures to the eurorack environment. For this we are using the T-ZED, from La Sesenta y Siete. A fully analog oscillator offering wave shaping, next to through-zero phase modulation.

In this video I explain phase modulation, go over the functions and features of the T-ZED oscillator, and of course, show you a series of patches to get started!"

Note this is the first post to feature La Sesenta y Siete.

T-ZED
OSCILLATOR
An analogue oscillator with through-zero phase modulation. The core of the T-ZED is the SSI2130 integrated circuit. Voltage controlled wave shape and phase modulation index allow for automated sonic versatility, and 2 separate frequency ranges mean the T-ZED can be used as an audio or CV source.
Features

• Simultaneous SINE, TRIANGLE, SAW, SQUARE, and variable SHAPE outputs
• Phase MOD input with bipolar INDEX circuit
• V/OCT input tracks 10 octaves
• FREQ spans 10 octaves, TUNE spans 1 octave
• Hard SYNC input
• SHAPE output (Sine to Triangle to Saw) with CV input and attenuator
• Frequency range HI: 10hz-25khz
• Frequency range LO: 0,1hz-200hz

Mixing, panning, polarizing and feedback - with Metabolic Devices Papomi

video by Monotrail Tech Talk

"Today we’re having a closer look at the Metabolic Devices Papomi! It’s a powerful swiss army knife for modular eurorack utilities. It works with audio and control voltages, and can be used as a mixer, attenuator, inverter, offset generator, panner and polarizer. But the combination of functions also make it really suitable for sonic experiments and feedback patches.

We go over the features and functions of the module, and then dive into a series of patches. From basic stereo panning, to more experimental drone and generative feedback patches.

Sound sculpting with Erica Synths Black Low Pass VCF, High Pass VCF and Filter Coupler

video by Monotrail Tech Talk

"Today we’re having a look at a brand new filter series for eurorack form Erica Synths. The series adds a high pass filter, a low pass filter, and a filter coupler module to the Black module series. The high and low pass filters can be used as standalone filters. The filter coupler module functions as a satellite module, so you can have your audio processed by both filters to add band pass and band reject functions to the filters.

We go over the features of all three modules. Then we dive into some sound demos and patches. First the low pass and high pass, and then when you combine the filters in series, or with the coupler module.

Introduction to the Transcendent Waveform Analog Oscillator - Sofia - Xaoc Devices

video upload by Monotrail Tech Talk

"Analog oscillator Sofia from Xaoc devices was one of the modules that caught my eye during Superbooth 22. Over the last month I have been able to mess around with it and explore its sounds! In this video I explain what ripple elements are. Give an overview of the front panel with its functions and features. And then I dive into a series of patch ideas. The chapter ‘Basic patches’ has mostly simple patches with raw audio demos. And ‘Advanced patches’ has a few examples of more complex ideas with effects in a musical setting."

DROID - Universal CV Processor

video uploads by Der Mann mit der Maschine

"This video introduces my new Eurorack synthesizer module "DROID". The DROID is a universal CV processor, that can do anything in your modular synth... except audio! The DROID has 8 CV inputs and 8 CV outputs and you can use them to implement lots of different utility functions, even at the same time. You can implement sequencers, quantizers, clock dividers and multipliers, trigger delays, precision adders, ADSR like envelope generators, random generators, turing machines, slew limiters, CV mixers, CV matrix mixers and many many more things."

The eurorack module that can do everything with CV – Introduction to Droid

video upload by Monotrail Tech Talk

"Droid – the Universal CV Processor – can basically do everything when it comes to control voltages. It can create modulation signals like complex LFOs and envelopes. Perform creative utilitarian functions like mixing, logic, quantizing, and so on. And it can do complex pattern and melodic sequencing. This gives you the power to create your own complex modules, or even entire custom control surfaces for performances.

I have been using it for a couple of months now, and in this video I explain how it works, and how it can be used. At least, I made a start, because the possibilities are basically endless!"
