The analog circuitry of this is based on dual SSI2140's per voice, while the Blue SpazeDrum is based on dual SSI2144's, so the 2 instruments sound quite different.

It has a touch dislplay for easier programming of the sequencer step values. This also functions as an X/Y controller, and it provides easier access to the menu's.

Update 4.36

-A cool icon is now shown at start-up!

-256 favorite sounds can now be stored, for instant recall.

-Added functionality of the 4 Edit Knobs: Group Morph and Group Levels.

-Oscillator D can now be sent to the analog oscillators.

-Ring modulated noise has been added as a noise source on Analog Percussion and Analog Clap.

-4 new G-RAY soft modes have been added.

Bug fixes:

-If no samplings were imported in the SpazeDrum FLASH memory, and the oscillator pages were accessed, it would start scanning for samples, which would affect the sequencer and envelopes timing. This has now been fixed.

-If a part was set up to External MIDI mode, and this part was controlled from an external MIDI device, notes would hang, if more than one note were played at a time. This has now been fixed.

-The sequencer position was not present on the VCF pages. Now it is.

-The PitchShaper effect Oct parameter would show wrong values (the effect did though work as intended). This has now been fixed.

Oh-kay. Lots of granular effects going on here. As usual, the Gotharman SpazeDrum is on analog drum duty, the DIY deMoon 1.4 plays a noisy synth pad sound and the Little deFormer 3 mashes all of this together, while adding its own digital synth sounds and a cut-up SpazeDrum live resampling. Phew. It's noisy, crackly ambient synth music fun (at least for me ;-P ) in stereo!

All sounds and effects are generated directly in the SpazeDrum. No samples were used, only sounds created with this beautiful, blue drum machine from Denmark. The SpazeDrum is a streamlined analog-digital hybrid drum synth, that lets you dive deep into electronic drum sound sound design and groovebox-style sequencing. It can work on its own, like you see in this video, or in a greater music setup, thanks to MIDI I/O, stereo mix outputs and the special, individual analog voice audio outputs. It also plays WAV file samples which can be transferred easily via a USB stick.

Again, I'm patching both the SpazeDrum analog drum computer and the deMoon digisynth into Little deFormer 3 granular workstation. There I add bass lines with the built-in analog filters, drones and weird effects. The Linnstrument MIDI keyboard plays a deMoon patch I made with my iPad editor. The eight edit knobs on the LD3 are all mapped to specific functions in the patch, so that I don't need a separate MIDI knobs controller :) Let me know if you have any questions!

I acquired an old, second-hand, DIY deMoon synth a few weeks ago, which was one of Gotharman‘s first commercial devices over ten years ago. Back then, I didn‘t understand nor appreciate its existence, but this has changed of course ;-) With that instrument rounding off my SpazeDrum + Little deFormer 3 setup, I decided to patch everything together and do something. So in this video, the SpazeDrum and deMoon each send their stereo audio into the LD3. There, the audio is combined with internal LD3 synth sounds and processed by its granular synthesis FX. The Linnstrument MIDI keyboard plays the deMoon and the SpazeDrum and deFormer both use their internal multi-track sequencers. I mapped the eight EDIT knobs on the deFormer 3 to various parameters and of course play with both the SpazeDrum‘s and LD3‘s morph knobs.

For this jam session I created a bunch of soft ambient synth and percussion sounds with the analog oscillators in the SpazeDrum. I also applied the digital filters and a bunch of slow LFOs and random modulation. The Ocean Machine adds two delay and reverb effects to the stereo audio.

The SpazeDrum is an analog-digital hybrid drum synthesizer form Denmark. It features a powerful sequencer and lots of modulation options. You can create your sounds from scratch and while it's made with drums in mind, you can still use it like a synth with all the typical building blocks, plus some Gotharman specialities :)
