En Zoo - Akai S700 Demo

Published on Jul 11, 2018 TheTrackdriver

"All sounds are sampled on the Akai S700. I was able to upgrade from v 1.3 to 1.6 thanks to a friendly viewer. MIDI sample dump works in both directions now which is nice when I need to backup my samples. It only works on a real Atari though but it's better than nothing."

Switched on Kraftwerk - The Mono Machine

Published on Feb 24, 2018 TheTrackdriver

"A short cover version of 'The Man Machine' album originally made by Kraftwerk. All instruments and robot voices are created on an Elektron Monomachine and the simple drums on the Elektron Machinedrum. I added a little Lexicon MX200 reverb. Both machines are running in song mode. The Monomachine is synced to the Machinedrum via MIDI.

Note the artifacts when switching from one kit to another, especially where the delay settings are very different between the kits."

Korg Minilogue - Demo

Published on Apr 3, 2017 TheTrackdriver

"All sounds from the Korg Minilogue and drums from the Elektron Machinedrum UW. Only the built-in effects are used.

I forgot that the Minilogue is equipped with an arpeggiator so I used Ableton Live for the bass. You can see that I'm programming a short sequence on the Minilogue later in the video. For some reason it starts halfway through the pattern but as it's synced to Ableton Live it works anyway."

Moog Sub 37 - Demo

Published on Jul 7, 2016 TheTrackdriver

"All sounds except drums are made on a Moog Sub 37. The drums comes from the Akai Rhythm Wolf + hand clap sample and were recorded on cassette tape for compression and saturation. Unfortunately I didn't use noise reduction so there is an audible tape hiss. I used a Roland RE-301 for the echoes on the arps and they were recorded twice for stereo effect.

Note: The white cotton gloves is not a gimmick. I use them so I won't get finger prints on my gear. Dust is easy to clean but grease is not."

Machinedrum UW Demo

Published on Oct 11, 2016 TheTrackdriver

"The Machinedrum is recorded on a stereo track in Ableton Live while I'm filming it on an iPhone. All effects are from the MDUW. I sampled a Moog Sub 37 and an electric guitar. All drums were created with the built-in machines."

Full Moon-Akai Rhythm Wolf Demo

Published on Sep 3, 2015 TheTrackdriver

"All sounds and drums are from the Akai Rhythm Wolf only and effects like tape delay were added later. I have used the built-in pattern sequencer, played directly on the buttons and had a MIDI track running in Ableton Live. I also had a channel for program changes as there is no song mode on the Wolf."
