DX5 playing Depeche Mode "Halo"

YouTube Uploaded by DX5 on Mar 28, 2011

"Done in a quick way (as always).
Filter is controlled by key velocity, it is not very approached as it is played live and is difficult to apply the right pressure for close/open filter.

Gear:
Upper: Emu EMAX II HD (includes a FX sampled with my voice at the beginning)
Mid: Roland JP8000
Low: Kurzweil PC1x

Backtrack recorded in Pro Tools. Just the drums and some fx."

DX5 messing with a Commodore C64

YouTube Uploaded by DX5 on Mar 14, 2011

"This is what happens when Jose plugs the C64 into the socket and starts to make sounds with MSSIAH midi cartridge.
This is a Commodore 64 ALDI limited version. Sold for german market with internal 8580 SID chip.

If anyone's wondering where I am from (due to my accent) I am Spanish.

Mono synthesizer demonstration. Playing DM "Shake the Disease" excerpt (hard to do with a monophonic synth if you want to play with two hands). Also "Popcorn".

Greetings to Vince Clarke at the video's end. :-)"

YouTube via DX5 | November 23, 2010 | 0 likes, 0 dislikes

"* No sound was sampled from the original song. Composed by Martin L. Gore

Includes a brief soundcheck before playing. Note the "tine" sound was previously recorded on the backtrack, not being sequenced live (the eq is slighty different from the sound check to the live playing)

DX5 playing Visage "Fade to Grey" (updated w/lyrics)

YouTube via DX5 | November 13, 2010

"Updated version. The pre-recorded voice is a take I did in 2006 (late at night almost whispering to a Shure SM58). As I found it curious I decided to include this take into the video.
Also, I improved the previous DX7 take, replacing it with the JP8000.

Gear:
Upper Keyb: Roland JP8000
Mid: Roland D10
Low: Roland JX8P

Backtrack Recorded on Pro Tools.

Composed by Billy Currie, Christopher Payne and Midge Ure"

DX5 playing Propaganda "P Machinery"

YouTube via DX5 | October 24, 2010

"Just a try. Original version had a fantastic production by ZTT records, with Steve Lipson and Trevor Horn on the mixing desk, and I just only spent a few hours sampling some of my keyboards (JX8P, DW8000, etc) into the EMAX and sequecing a simple backtrack.

A wrong note can be heard at 02:50. There is not cause for concern.

Upper keyb: Emu EMAX II HD
Mid: Roland JP8000
Lower: Kurzweil PC1x

Tape Machine: Revox B77 MkII"

DX5 playing Depeche Mode "Come Back" (bare)

YouTube via DX5 | October 13, 2010

"Played as they recorded live in Chung King studios. Just rehearsed in a while (never played it before), so it's not perfect.

Gear:
Upper: Roland JP8000
Lower: Kurzweil PC1x

Composed by Gahan/Phillpott/Eigner"

DX5 playing Depeche Mode "Stories of Old"

YouTube via DX5 | October 11, 2010

"Emax power today.

Gear:
Upper and Mid: Emu Emax
Lower: Emu EMAX II HD
Right (out of screen) : Yamaha DX7 II FD.

* Sound is overcompressed due to an overloaded output from the mixer into camera preamp (it uses to compress a lot even in normal levels). Hope it doesn't disturb too much. And yes, there is a mistake at one of the last notes :)

Composed by Martin L. Gore."

DX5 playing Depeche Mode "The Sun and the Rainfall"

YouTube via DX5 | October 05, 2010

"A track I like a lot.

Gear:
Upper: Roland JX8P (first noise sound is the infamous JX plane preset :)
Mid: KORG DW8000
Lower: Emu EMAX II HD

Also used: Simmons SDS 8 for drums.
Backtrack recorded in Pro Tools.
*Note: there is a short "jump" at second 7. It seems to be a problem when capturing the video into the computer or rendering to the final format.

Composed by Martin L Gore."

Just for fun: JP8000 emulating a Casiotone

YouTube via DX5 | September 07, 2010

"*** New covers coming soon... Stay tuned ***

This is a kind of entertaiment I did while working in a project that will be released at the end of the year (news coming soon).

A Roland JP8000 sounding like a "piano" casiotone sound :) By the way, the song is the infamous VL TONE rom sound, responsible of my interest on synthesizers."
