SSF Propagate Micro Beats

SSF Propagate Micro Beats from joseph fraioli on Vimeo.

"patch exploring micro percussion possibilites of the steady state fate propagate module.

micro beats - achieved by running four separate clock signals into the SSF propagate (chaos computer binary outs x2 clocked by the 4MS SCM and 2 channels of the 4MS PEG clocked by the SCM and divided) . Propagate delay and space times were adjusted then the SUM output fed into a vca. one sound source (cyclebox) was used for all of the micro percussion. the vca out then went into the tiptop z-dsp with dragonfly delay card. the program changes are happening by way of wogglebug stepped output to the program change in on the z-dsp. additional modulation of the parameters of the z-dsp are coming from the synth tech e355.

kick drum - hertz donut mark 2 through the make noise optomix with a bit of an openess on the control att to create the sustained drone.

hi hat like thing - SSF quantum rainbow purple noise out into the SSF PTG with additional level adjustment by the SSF ground control. this is then fed into the grendel formant filter then the mungo d0 for timbre variance. clock source for this is the pamelas workout into the PTG which is being clocked by the 4MS SCM.

reversed maths bouncing ball - one channel of maths being clocked again by the 4ms SCM with the fall time modulated by the synth tech e355. sound source here is braids being FMed by a dixie.

main clock source for the patch was an intellijel dixie.

verb from the h8000fw :)"

"special planning modular synth new era!
Artists and developers crazy together
You all know that the modular synth is in boom enthusiastic mainly the United States, the European world now deep in Eurorack? Compact module that standard 3U Eurorack of size becomes the platform, synth builder to produce a module towards the standard he is more than 100 well. Reproduction of the vintage, of course, that the module of modern only equipped with DSP also appeared, sound making increased degrees of freedom and individual became possible, artists have also created a music full of originality. So, to say modular scene and has entered a new phase now. But why welcomed the rise of so far? Go follow diversified, to climax of the scene in different cities Manufacturer of Eurorack modular, and interviews, to use artists from the history background in special planning this. By all means, I want you to touch the world of deep Eurorack modular synth with almost infinite possibilities.

The Butterfly Effect

The Butterfly Effect from joseph fraioli on Vimeo.

"A patch inspired by Chaos Theories 'The Butterfly Effect'. The idea was to create a patch that with very slight changes at the source of events, would produce very drastic changes to the outcome.

Patch basics are Pamela's Workout sending two trigger signals with differently programmed parameters to the Intellijel Planar X and Y CV inputs. The Planar then sends those trigger signals to the Make Noise Maths Wogglebug and Function, 4ms RCD, SCM, PEG, and ADDAC Marble Physics. The Planar is also modulating some of the various modules parameters while simultaneously mixing signals from three of the sound sources. While leaving the joystick alone, long cycling seemingly random patterns will emerge. Very slight changes in the joysticks position greatly effect the timing, structure and sonic behaviors of the triggers, modulated parameters and source mixing.

Other key modules used were the mungo d0 and g0, Make Noise MMG, DPO, Optomix and Phonogene, Serge Resonant Equalizer, e355 Morphing LFO, e350, Hertz Donut, Dixie's, Gamma Wave Source, Modcan CV Record, amongst others.."

Plantterns

Plantterns from joseph fraioli on Vimeo.

"Patch that utilizes the Synthesis Technology e355s LFOs to modulate the x and y axis of the Intellijel Planar to create complex patterns with no VCAs or sequencers.

The basics of the patch are the e355 is in phase mode and bank B of wavetables. The e355 LFO 1 is going into CVx of the planar while LFO 2 is going into CVy. CV morph on the e355 is coming from a sine wave on a Dixie LFO. DPO osc 1 sine in LFO mode is modulating the 1v/oct put of the e355.

Four sound sources at different pitches are fed into the Planars inputs A through D then out of the main mix output into processing modules. The sources and processors are further modulated via planar CV outs.

Additionally there is a free running micro hi-hat created by the SSF quantum rainbow pink noise clocked separately by Pamela's workout."

Creating Gestural Sound Effects with the Intellijel Planar Module

Creating Gestural Sound Effects with the Intellijel Planar Module from Richard Devine on Vimeo.

"I setup this patch to work on a sound design project for a client, which needed unique transformer like power ups and electrical like swooshes. I borrowed the patch idea from another fellow sound designer friend Joseph Fraioli who came up with the original patch. I then took that and further added and tweaked a few things to adapt it to this project. The planar X/Y CV out is controlling the pitch of three different sound sources, intellijel cyclebox, and two intellijel Dixies. There is also multiple outs going to three different delay modules, Synthesis Technology E580, MakeNoise Echophon, and Doepfer BBD. This is just a short excerpt from that session of recordings."

MMg0

MMg0 from joseph fraioli on Vimeo.

"A patch that started as an experiment inspired by Peter Speers demonstration of LPG emulation using the Make Noise MMG (DPO>MMG> / Wogglebug> Pressure Points). After wiggling around a bit I multed the output of the MMG into the Mungo g0 in live / record pause mode to create a pitched granular delay as well as added some additional elements.

The basic patch description is the g0 is being modulated by the Synthesis Technology e355 LFO 1 as well as by hand. Also happening is a modulated, cycling Make Noise Function envelope on an FMed Dixie sine wave mixed in and out by way of the Intellijel Planar which is also sending x and y CV to the Grendel Formant filter. Drones by way of e350 and MMF1 with a slow sine from the a147 LFO into an attenuator then 1v/oct input on e350 and e355 LFO 2 on Z morph :) Grainy video courtesy of the wrong ISO settings and whatnot."

Joseph Fraioli Workspace on TRASH_AUDIO

via TRASH_AUDIO where you'll find more pics and the full post.

"My favorite pieces of gear would have to be my eurorack modular system and my Pacarana Kyma system. The modular is so great for original source generation. Like every module is an idea and a patch becomes a cohesive thought. The possibilities seem endless and I like how you cant recall anything. Once you take apart a patch thats it, it forces you to be creative in a different way. With Kyma, I love how I can make sound into silly puddy: bending and stretching conventional sounds into something new and different. What really gets interesting for me is using Kyma and the modular together. Another go to processor for me is the Eventide Orville. Such a deep machine especially with the vSig software."
