Tauntek firmware upgrade adds the following features:

1) MIDI Sysex patch save and restore - saves or restores all patches in one operation (tape save/load works as before)

2) MIDI cc parameter changes are now supported

3) Non-volatile storage of MIDI channel setting and current patch

4) Slider code modified as described above to avoid jumpiness

5) Adjustable Unison de-tune feature. (Not active in split mode) (can be disabled)

6) Random arpeggiator mode instead of "play all notes" mode (can be disabled)

7) Arpeggiator up/down mode which doesn't repeat the top and bottom keys (can be disabled)

8) Slow LFO mode which halves the frequency over the entire range of the LFO (can be disabled)

9) VCF resonance slider taper mod to move oscillation point up (overall range is not changed) (can be disabled)

10) ADSR slider tapers mod to increase effect in the lower part (overall range is not changed) (can be disabled)

11) MIDI clocking of arpeggiator with choice of 48,24,12, or 6 PPQ (can be disabled for internal or 1/4" jack clocking)

12) Sustain mode can be activated using Arp Hold switch

13) MIDI Note velocity added to VCA EG Depth setting mode (but new setting also affects notes played on AX60, can be disabled)"

"Akai AX60 analog synth with Tauntek upgrade, new switches, new key contacts, dust cover, and audio/MIDI cables. Everything works great and sounds incredible. The key felt was also replaced, so the key bed no longer has that Ensoniq "clack." The sliders are a little rough, but work without any dropout or crackling. Also note, there is some cosmetic wear (see the photos for details), some of the solder work inside on the control panel might not be to everyone's taste (not my doing), and finally, this synth is HEAVY."

Cosmetically the Matrix 1000 has the usual "rack rash" which is not noticable when you place it on a rack. The front panel is in great condition. "Tauntek Midi info: MIDI channel can be set by holding one key down while powering up the Poly6. Low C selects channel 1, C# channel 2, etc. The 17th key selects OMNI mode. Arpeggiator clocking can be set the same way, using keys starting at middle C. Middle C selects local arp clocking (not MIDI, also the default setting). C# selects quarter note clocking, D selects eighth note, D# selects sixteenth note, and E selects thirty-second note arp clocking. The top six keys can be used to set the MIDI note number that maps to the bottom key. Holding the top key at power-up sets the note number to press the bottom key to 60. The next key down selects 48. The next key selects 36, etc. 36 would probably be the "normal" setting. The MIDI channel, MIDI note range, and arp clocking settings are retained until set to different values using the same method."

"6 voice polyphonic analog synth with dedicated controller for real-time editing of the sound parameters.

Synth has been fitted with Tauntek v1.20 firmware (praise this guy for all the work he does for many great electronic instrument). Unit has been serviced and adjusted. Working and sounding as it should. It can run on 100-110-220-240v.

It comes with a dedicated programmer developped by one man (praise him too for that) based on arduino: Alpes Machines Matrix CTRLR

32 knobs and 29 switches to edit ALL the paramaters of the synth including the matrix. You can control up to 4 units (Matrix 6, 6R or 1000) with the same controller and you can store 1000 users presets. And it furthermore adds a great arpeggiator and sequencer. Definitely bring the synth to another dimension.

The controller works perfectly with just an occasional minor bug: screen prints funny caracter or no caracter at all. It resolves by flipping pages on the display or switching the unit off and on. It has no impact on the controller itself or the synth.
