Teenage Engineering EP-133 P.O.II First Jam

video upload by Perplex On

"Couldn’t resist to give the #ep133KOII a chance. This is my very first jam and i‘m sure i still have a lot to learn on this machine. Everything here comes from the machine with onboard samples. My first impression:
.
Plus: Very immediate, great haptics, love the design, great onboard samples
.
Minus: No punch-in fx recording (which was present on all orignal PO‘s), No individual step lengths (only length of total bars afaik, so no polyrhythmic adventures).
.
Oh and btw if you wonder why the fader looks weird: They added this piece of plastic around it in order to avoid transport damage but it is sooooo tight i couldn’t even get it off. 😕"

NAMM 2024 - Teenage Engineering - K.O. II - OB4

video upload by sonicstate

"In an exclusive interview at NAMM 2024, Will from Teenage Engineering provided an in-depth look at the company's latest offerings, notably highlighting the KO2 sampler, complete with their own arcade cabinets. The KO2 is positioned as the second generation of the popular PO-33 KO sampler, boasting significant expansions in functionality. The sampler features larger, Cherry MX switch-based pads, offering a satisfying and responsive feel. Designed on a Lego grid, the KO2 allows users to customize their units with additional Legos, extending to the sides and providing mounting holes for creating stands or interfaces.

The KO2 is geared towards on-the-go recording, equipped with a microphone and line-in capabilities for versatile sound capturing. With a robust build, the KO2 emphasizes sturdiness while maintaining a slim and lightweight profile with and provides step sequencing, delay, reverb, distortion, chorus, filter, and compressor effects and scene arrangement capabilities. Will also spoke of future developments within the EP series, hinting at more devices to come within the same platform.

The interview also touched upon Teenage Engineering's OB4 speaker, a portable powerhouse with impressive sound output of up to 100 dB at one metre, and a range of colors available, including the Stormtrooper-like black and white vesion we saw.

KO.II Price: 249 UKP. 299 USD

OB4 Price: Around 600 USD"

Teenage Engineering OP-1 Field Update

video upload by teenage engineering

"introducing a new effect for OP–1 field: terminal. a bit crusher effect that lets you travel seamlessly through the bit and sample rate ages. use the soothing anti-aliasing filter to get just the right amount of lo-fi goodness. we’ve also added a new feature: merge drop. now you can drop all your lifted takes onto the active track so you can continue building your song, forever."

Playdate and Teenage Engineering TX-6

video upload by Luca Longobardi

"It's strange, isn't it?' the woman said in a pensive voice. 'Everything is blowing up around us, but there are still those who care about a broken lock, and others who are dutiful enough to try to fix it... But maybe that's the way it should be. Maybe working on the little things as dutifully and honestly as we can is how we stay sane when the world is falling apart.
(Haruki Murakami, Men without Women)

What I particularly love about these little instruments that I use to make music and that I show here is the feeling of being able to contain my world in the palm of my hand. And I consider this a superpower.

About this setup:
Playdate App Granular plays 5 different granular versions of a sample recorded with my piano through its on board mic, TX-6 plays sine waves (I muted/unmuted them live) and add its reverb magic."

Stretching the Limits of Samples On The KO-II

video upload by Ricky Tinez

"The Teenage Engineering EP-133 KO-II can Alias Samples! Sampling sounds high pitch and then stretching them back down extremely far to get them back to a normal or a low pitch creates aliasing within samples, which is this amazing texture that I was able to get from my older MPCs, and it's a technique that has been widely used for a very long time. So can we do it on the new Teenage Engineering EP – 133? YES! You could also do this on the PO-33 pocket operator! I also pair the new KO-ii with my Digitakt so I don't run into the voice stealing issues I had in this video" [posted here]
