Kaoss Pad 3 KP3 Operating System Version 2.0

YouTube via pepemogt.
"Here is with the new Operating System Version 2.0 , The four samples can now be played simultaneously, and this allows for volume mixing of all samples in the Sample Edit mode. Additionally, triggering and muting of samples can be controlled in real-time while in this mode.

in this video 4 Sound Samples coming from analogue machines were uploaded into Kaoss the rest are internal KP3 effects, no other gear were used, master out straight to the computer audio card. KP3 it seems to be targeted for Djs but in the studio gives you a ot of ideas for production and sound creation.

SAMPLE BANK (samples used here)
A= Cwejman + Sherman filter bank + Drumulator
B= Cwejman + Sherman Filter bank
C= Modified Tr-606
D=Roland TR-909

this is only a test, not intented to be a KP3 demo.

PPG Wave 2.2, Wave 2.3 and EVU: System V8.3

"This new and progressive operating system improves your PPG!

V8.3 is our consistent development of our successful V8.0. Like V8.0 the new V8.3 system offers comprehensive SysEx support which allows saving your own sounds via MIDI to an external computer device. Formerly this was only possible with an expensive Waveterm computer device. Via MIDI SysEx datagrams the PPG synthesizer will communicate with an external MIDI library, like the Emagic SoundDiver.

Additionally our current V8.3 system convinces with many new and helpful functions, removes annoying problems of the old PPG system V6.0 and offers an improved MIDI timing.

Performance features of V8.3 - the evolution from V6.0 / V8.0
V8.3 offers following new features which are a clear improvement in comparison to previous old systems:

*Comfortable handling of the extensive V8.0 SysEx functions directly accessable form the PPG panel
*Accelerated MIDI timing due of improved MIDI code
*ANALOG-panel shows the value of the modulation wheel; essential for sound programming experts
*Extended V8.0 SysEx implementation for storing sounds on an external computer device
*PPG bus emulation over the MIDI interface; for PPG extremists and future applications
*During the boot process the display shows the version and serial number
*Extended user´s manual with new "quick start guide"

Additionally in V8.3 we improved the program code of the old official PPG release V6.0 and removed engraving software bugs:

*Arpeggiator bug of Wave 2.3 solved
*Initialisation problem of the Upper Wavetable solved
*Correction of the defective waveforms in Wavetable 13
*Several minor bug fixes (Sequencer quantization, arpeggiator mode, etc.)

Scope of supply
This kit consists of an easy understandable user-manual (english or german version) and 4 new chips. The original EPROMs in your Wave or EVU will be replaced by the new ones."

Burble

click here for a new Buchla 200e track from Chris Muir. Scroll when you get there; it's the first track on the list. You will find more under it as well.

"Burble is the combination of two little improvs that were done a few days apart. After I had recorded the less rhythmic, droney, layer I wondered if that rhythmic thing I had recorded a couple days earlier was in the same key and tempo enough to fit on top.

It wasn't, but I glued them together anyway. I go back and forth on whether to add a lead sound to this one. What do you think?

For this one, my system was augmented with a borrowed 259e waveform generator, which I used heavily. There's probably a lot less reverb & delay on this track than you think."

Off-the-record: Sonic Charge [ENG]

"This time our special guest is Magnus Lidström, the mind behind Propellerhead Reason 2's Malström synth and our beloved µTonic (or MicroTonic), released under its own Sonic Charge brand. Magnus is taking a little vacation in the deep forests of Småland (Sweden, of course!), where he's meditating on his next software...

hardware device? And what do you think of new interfaces/technologies like multi-touch screen, etc.?

I'd love to go hardware some day. There is just something magic about turning a real knob as opposed to using a mouse. One thing that bothers me about software is the way it quickly decomposes if it isn’t kept up-to-date by the manufacturer. Give it a few years without updates and you risk not being able to load it up anymore on your latest computer with the latest OS. Software loses value quickly this way, as opposed to hardware, which if kept in good condition can hold for decades, and actually increase in value. About future interface technologies I am really intrigued by the multi-touch interfaces you mention. The physical qwerty keyboard is for keeps (and physical MIDI-keys and knobs for that matter), but I’ll happily throw out the mouse any day."
