Monome Step : Generative Drawing

Monome Step : Generative Drawing from formalplay on Vimeo.
"This is my first test of having the Monome control some generative drawing along with the audio through this step sequencer I made in Flash similar to the original 64Steps.

I especially like where the step sequencing begins to break down because of how deep the drawing gets.

Its the same drawing engine I used to generate this seasons Thank You cards (although for the Monome version I removed the Type Flakes)

This season's cards in collab with [M]:

Gravity Snd Toy Prototype 01.01

Gravity Snd Toy Prototype 01.01 from formalplay on Vimeo.
"As an exploration of physical interface, this standalone reactive object is the beginning of a series that investigates ways in which objects can play and manipulate sound using external input and data. Sound playback is controlled within this object by moving it through space and changing its orientation.

This prototype is battery operated and the sound is played from an SD card attached to an Arduino board. In its current state, the prototype contains an 1/8" audio line out so that the sound can run directly to amplification and recording devices."

Gravity Sound Toy Prototype - Impromptu Interview

Gravity Sound Toy Prototype - Impromptu Interview from formalplay on Vimeo.
"Saturday night @ 9pm. Hanging out with my 10 year old nephew. I ask him what he wants to do and list off about 1/2 a dozen things including video games and watching one of the movies he brought over. Out of everything I listed, he picked going to the studio to make stuff. I had been working on this earlier in the day. He was playing with the video camera and decided to ask me about it."
