Aalto Softsynth from Madrona Labs

"Aalto, a new semi-modular software synthesizer with an innovative, patchable UI, distinctive sounds, and a charming personality, will be available from Madrona Labs on Monday, September 13, 2010.

Aalto's sound engine lets you create sounds that have been difficult or impossible to make with softsynths before now. At its heart is a complex oscillator, with FM, timbre and waveshape controls that enable a wide range of expressive sounds. Each voice also includes a lowpass gate, patchable waveguide / delay and a multimode filter.

Aalto is designed as much for sequencing patterns as for playing individual notes. Each voice has a separate, built-in sequencer with a patchable, independently controllable rate and offset that make it easy to achieve evolving, chaotic textures.

Aalto has a streamlined UI that lets you make complex patches quickly and easily. The two-dimensional, nostalgia-free interface has intuitive signal dials that let you view the parameters you are adjusting. Every control in Aalto is always right on the screen, one click away.

The full version of Aalto is available now in Audio Units format for Mac OS. The purchase price of $99 includes a license for all future formats and platforms as they are released. Mac and Windows VST versions are planned for fall 2010.

Every buyer of Aalto will receive a $99 discount on the forthcoming Soundplane instrument from Madrona Labs. For more information on Madrona Labs and the Soundplane, visit our web site at http://madronalabs.com.

AU version system requirements: Mac OS 10.4 or higher. 1.6GHz Intel Core Duo processor or better.

Joy Division's ARP OMNI 2 Up For Auction?

via this auction

You be the judge. Some snips from the description: "This SYNTHESIZER was the one used by JOY DIVISION on CLOSER L.P. + the CLASSIC LOVE WILL TEAR US APART. For example; HEART and SOUL BASSLINE and STRINGS I can get exactly the sound on the ARP while playing the CD; its quite a feeling, but enough of that if you are not a JD fan like I am. EVEN BETTER ! - The MANUAL has FACTORY RECORDS ADDRESS WRITTEN VERY NEATLY ON THE INSIDE COVER... The HISTORY that I know of; 3 OWNERS ONLY in 30 odd YEARS; FACTORY RECORDS, AN A&R MAN CALLED MARTIN, (who I will not give anymore details about because its not important and hes a NICE BLOKE, anyway thats all you need to know !) and Myself. Martin bought the Synthesizer along with a load of other kit from FACTORY RECORDS in the LATE 1980s when FACTORY was in FINANCIAL difficulties, he never used it, just stored it with lots of other gear, his room was a tresure trove - believe me I saw it ! I managed to get the ARP off him in 1992 and have kept it ever since. THE DISCOGRAPHY (that again I know of, could be more !) CLOSER L.P. JOY DIVISION. LOVE WILL TEAR US APART 7" . JOY DIVISION. Maybe some early NEW ORDER, I know they used some other MODELS of ARP (QUADRA), check out U -TUBE VIDEOS. SUNDAY AFTERNOON BBQ MUSIC. C.D. 1996. FRETLESS AZM / Aka MAX BRENNAN. LOST ARKS C.D. 1997. DELTA T. LIGHTBULB L.P. 1999. DELTA T. ELECTRIC CIRCUS C.D. 2001. DELTA T. THE CHALICE E.P. 2010. CODA PULSE. (Check out Myspace for hearing the ARP on the latter). Finally, why the **** am I selling it ? - Well its the old one, FAMILY over MUSIC ! - No WORK, NO MONEY and many other personal factors - kids to bring up etc... I have to let her go only for the right price though, I have owed her for 18 years and I will really miss playing, but there we go - thats LIFE. ENJOY before its too LATE... GOD BLESS IAN CURTIS R.I.P."

Modded Roland MC-202 synth jam

"This unit works great and has been upgraded with proper CV / GATE INPUTS The MC-202 does have CV/Gate In's and out's. However, it's a known problem that the CV/Gate Inputs have slight problems, since many data are actually quantized before they reach the Synth section. This is because the CV/Gate In's are routed and pass through the internal sequencer CPU then out back to the synth. You can still use the original cv/gate ins and outs- and the synth functions exactly like a non modified one when the modded jacks are unplugged... Here is a link to a page detailing the original modification http://www.subatomicglue.com/202l0g/"

Folktek The Bug 5.0

via this auction
"The Bug 5.0 By Ben Houston.
This custom piece is part of a folktek series entitled "philanthropoid"". Known simply as the Bug series. Also in the series on the site and around the world is the Mantis, dronescape sequencer, the book of sound, the moth, the growling insect, the bug, the octa-hedra, walking stick, pendulum translator and others. The sound is phenomenol and continues to amaze us. It is a sonic symphony of nasty and grimy sweetness, endless layers of sound possibilities emenating from High quality OSC originally based on high tech speech synthesis. Seemingly random bits can be rediscovered time and time again and then there are those moments that you will most likely never rediscover. Endlessly captivating, this piece WILL provide sounds that you will not find in other synthesizers and will astonish you every time you turn it on.

This particular piece features four patchable knobs, and a twelve point magnetic patchbay. This allows you to determine function and provides tons of flexibility. In addition, two more knobs (global knob control and power kill) , glowing lamp power indicator , 2 folktek button/switches for activate and freeze mode sections, reset, 1/4" output, basic manual of function and layout. You'll be able to cipher through waveforms and textures with extreme sensitivity in thousands of ways. Waveforms (individual, or multiple layers) can be captured and maintained, often intermodulating in beautiful and/or disturbing ways. Super sensitive knobs let you filter through tons of sounds and glitchscapes. Albums are waiting to be created here as the sound is quite different from anything else you'll find..

Includes DC adaptor" Folktek on Ebay
