Update via Don Garbutt in the comments: "I worked on this model at IRCAM in the early '80s. It kept overheating, so they flew Don Buchla to Paris to turn a fan screw with a screwdriver!"

BubBrand's Live Modular Setup

via BugBrandBlog

"For the live stuff I've generally been taking a master clock from the TR606 (via UTLX, top right).

This clock is then used to drive Seqs, Divs, etc. and these derived clocks hook onwards into a Tama twin-drum module and generate events within the modular.

So, the top frame is mainly Clocking.

The middle frame is a variety of different things (think I will lose the clocking modules in the middle of this frame) - inc. new CTL1 Touch Panel version (the green)
& the bottom is mostly the synthesis - several SYN2B Quadrature Sine Oscillators for FM goodness.

Lots of power, but relatively compact and portable."

Acidlab MIAMI Listening Test

"a quick (and probably boring) listening test of Acidlab.de MIAMI - analog clone of T-808"

Update:

fun with Acidlab MIAMI & heavy distortion

Published on Jul 8, 2012 by AudioCentralMagazine

"Nothing more than fiddling with a heavy & nasty distortion unit on the delicious Acidlab.de MIAMI 808 clone. I am very flabbergasted of interaction between kick decay and (heavy) distortion. In my memories, this reminds me some very very great album of Pankow - an italian electronic duo that i liked a lot. Hats off to Pankow (and Acidlab, obviously)."

RichyHo's Rack Planner - Video #1

YouTube Published on Jul 8, 2012 by RichyHo
Update: You might want to skip to the updated Video #2 below.

"An overview of the features and functionality of my multi-format modular synthesizer rack planner (as at v. 1.12 - currently a work-in-progress and not yet released). I forgot to demo dragging modules between racks (they retain their patched commections) and 'dynamic bolts' (but if you watch carefully in the euro rack you might see bolts appear/disappear as modules are dragged around). Comments and suggestions are welcomed - either here or on the thread at Muffs Forum where you'll find much more info about the project and better quality pictures...http://www.muffwiggler.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=61984&start=all
Thanks for watching."

RichyHo's Rack Planner - Video #2

YouTube Published on Jul 9, 2012 by RichyHo

"Best watched in full screen, HD. A better quality video demonstrating the main features of my current development project - RichyHo's Rack Planner. Now at version 1.13 (not available for a while yet!) it's a modular synthesizer rack layout planner and patch notation system. Comments welcome. Thanks for watching."

Patch Archives: Pro-One Bon Voyage Bass

YouTube Published on Jul 8, 2012 by MusicGearNuts

"Music Gear Nuts brings you the 'Patch Archives'. What better way to remember memory-less gear settings than by recording a video, with audio demos and patch pictures!

In this episode we have one of the classic analogue bass monsters, a Sequential Circuits 'Pro-One'. The patch settings attempt to re-create the deep droning bass line from 'Air Frog - Bon Voyage' on the Svek label (SK043, 2000).

Don't forget to tune your Pro-One according to the manual if you attempt the same patch settings. Otherwise, just use your ears and have fun!

Thanks go out to the Stockholm crew for your percussion!"

"Just plugged in my René.

~Cogito Ergo Sum

A-145 LFO providing clock to RCD/SCM plus multed to various portions of René.
QCV to SubCon Model 15 w/ xgate to A143-1. 2nd CV to Modcan FMVDO w/ ygate to Envelator. Modcan filtered by MFB 24db and M15 running through MA ma35.

Junction: New York City Taxis Generate a Real-Time Soundtrack

YouTube Published on Jul 7, 2012 by kamoni

"Junction is a sound sculpture generated in real-time by thousands of New York City taxi cabs. Through the use of publicly available live footage from New York's Traffic Management Center, Junction tracks the movements of taxis in some of the city's busiest intersections. It uses their position, velocity and overall density to synthesize sounds. The onlooker gains a feeling of omniscience, as if "watching from above", while every tracked taxi's indeterministic movements become part of a larger symphony."

Modular Acid

"909 sets the drums, OSC303x2 + STG .COM into AMSynths JP8 filter into Blue Lantern ninja VCA, controlled by a bunch of other stuff for sequencing and modulation (154/155, MakeNoise PP+Brains, 4MS PEG, Topobrillo Quantimator, TipTop Z3k, etc). Mmmm, acid."
