Consensus has it the MKS-80 is actually somewhere between the Roland Jupiter-6 and Jupiter-8. More on that below. First the auction description:

"This is a revision 5 unit that has been tested and is working properly and has been for many years. Used in a home studio to make karaoke tracks. Original manual and cartridge are included along with a print out of the sounds on the cartridge."

Regarding the Jupiter-6 vs Jupiter-8: Here are the chips according to Synth Techs CEM page (I can't clearly make out the SN for this MKS-80 so who knows)

Jupiter 6
12 CEM3340 VCO
6 CEM3360 Dual VCA

MKS-80 to Serial #511800
8 CEM3340 VCO
4 CEM3360 DUal VCA

MKS-80 Serial #511800 up
8 IR-3R03 Roland VCO
4 CEM3360 Dual VCA
4 IR-3R05 Roland VCF/VCA
And via sequencer.de's wiki: "Jupiter 8 / MKS-80 Filter? Curtis? Roland? Thats a common mistake. But there is NO CEM filters in any of the MKS revisions. The CEM rev. has only CEM VCO and VCA even the ju8 has no curtis filters.. same for the ju6.. Both revisions uses 2 CEM3360 _DUAL_ VCA per voiceboard for Crossmodulation- The older revision usesr IR309 filter like in JP4, JP8, Juno60 etc. The newer MKS uses IR305 which is both VCF and VCA. like in Juno1/2, JX-10 etc. So it is right as follows (I will remove the wrong ones soon): MKS-80 (racked jupiter8) MKS80 used 8 x IR3RO5 ..to Serial <#511800 WRONG (called the curtis / roland myth:): 8 CEM3340 VCO 4 CEM3360 DUal VCA Should be: 16 CEM3340 VCO 8 CEM3360 Dual VCA 12 IR-3R09 VCF MKS80 serial >511800 WRONG (called the curtis / roland myth:): MKS-80 Serial #511800 up (later models) 8 IR-3R03 Roland VCO 4 CEM3360 Dual VCA 4 IR-3R05 Roland VCF/VCA Should be: 16 IR-3R03 Roland VCO 4 CEM3360 Dual VCA 8 IR-3R05 VCF/VCA "

If this doesn't completely make sense to you, and you still aren't sure what the MKS-80 is closest to, you are not alone. :)

"Here is some more information from soviet synthesizer web www_russkeys_net:

EM-04 HAS A FOUR MAIN SECTIONS OF CONTROL:

1-st GROUP (left manual) - attack, sustain, bass, violin, alto, string, orchestral, brass
BRASS FILTER - attack, sustain (level, on/off), cutoff, resonance
2-nd GROUP (right manual) - attack, sustain, bass, violin, alto, string, orchestral, brass
MASTER - fine tuning, main volume level, tone (brightness), slalom (pitch slide), hawaii (finger pitch controller).

• There is a one master oscillator in this instrument. Due to this oscillator a possibility of instrument detuning in the process of operation is eliminated.

• Because of split of the manual into 2 sections, the volume of each group may be adjusted.

FILTER GENERATOR IS FOR BRASS SECTION ONLY.

Description
Electronica EM - 04. There is a one master oscillator in the instrument. Due to this oscillator a possibility of instrument's detuning in the process of operation is eliminated. This generator shifts a pitch of the instrument on an octave, "slalom-effect" and refines the tuning +/- 1/4. Because of split of the manual into 2 sections, the volume of each part may be adjusted."

"The Pocket Piano is a mini electronic synthesizer with a big sound! The synthesizer features six unique modes:
· Vibrato Synth
· Harmonic Sweeper
· Two-Octave Arpeggiator
· Octave Cascade
· Mono FM Synth
· FM Arpeggiator

The Pocket Piano is housed in a sturdy aluminum and hardwood case and also includes a built-in speaker, a 1/4" output jack, and wooden keys made for a refined touch. It can be powered both by a 9V battery or a wall wart (not included).

When you change modes with the right-most wooden button, a color LED above that button indicates what mode is selected with a different color for each mode. The entire keyboard may be tuned over a 2 octave range by turning the knob second from right. Volume is controlled by the right-most knob. The function of the remaining two left knobs depend on what mode is selected, and are described below. There is also a button that selects waveform (sine, square, triangle, sawtooth) in the first four modes, and shifts the keyboard an octave higher in the last two modes."
