"Here we have 2 very rare classic Roland sound modules

Roland PR-800, Digital Piano Recorder, Vintage Unit

Roland PB-300, Rhythm plus drum machine

I have owned these a while now but do not use them in my studio both are in working order!

As you can see from the picture they both have the small midi input and outputs along with some other clever functions like metronome and accent.

The two units would require normal kettle plugs.

The manuals can both be downloaded in an instant here:

Roland CR-78 CompuRhythm with Rare Future Retro Sync Box (One of Two Made)

via this auction

According to the listing only two of the FR Sync Boxes were made. I'll see if I can get confirmation on this from Future Retro.

via the listing:
"The programmer/sync box was custom made by Future Retro (only two made). Works similar to the original WS-1 that Roland released with this.

* Sync the CR-78 to any other Din Sync device
* Select the playback sync rate to: (1) normal speed, (2) double speed, (3) half speed
* Use external positive polarity Gate or Trigger signals to programm patterns into the CR-78 user memory.
* Manually tap a beat into the CR-78 user memory using the momentary switch on the front panel.
* Front panel blue LED lights to show when external gate or trigger signals are being received.
* Sync box is powered using a 9v battery (included)
* Instructions for using the sync box will be included with the item.

By syncing the playback of the CR-78 to your Din Sync master eg.TR-808/TR-606/Future Retro Revolution, you can then send the programmable trigger or gate signals out of the master into the programmer interface and on to the CR-78 for storing your own custom rhythms in the CR-78. When using a Din Sync master device which also has MIDI such as the Revolution, you can then sync your CR-78 to any other MIDI sequencers as well."

Update: I heard back from Future Retro. Not only are there only two in existence, this is the only one released to the public. The other is still with FR.

"Functionality demonstration of 80s drum module. Controls allow user to trigger one of 4 different drum sounds on each module and tweak its pitch, bend, decay, bass and treble. Modules triggered via Analogue Systems Europa sequencer with individual outs fed into Mackie 1202 mixers for independent panning."

Making Percussion Loops with the VBrazil Modules

Making Percussion Loops with the VBrazil Modules from Icaro Ferre on Vimeo.

"After watching the 'one oscillator beat' by Todd Barton (https://vimeo.com/52013392), I thought it'd be a cool idea to try something similar using my new VBrazil modules, the Aether Oscillator and the MultiLFO.
The goal for the patch is simple: to create clicky percussion / drum loops using just one oscillator, some modulation sources and a wave-folder for some west coast vibe.

Explaining this patch in text is tricky because there's a lot of circular / cross modulation happening between the envelope, LFOs and S&H. On the other hand, I'll try to give you a basic overview of the patch:
- The main modulation source in the patch is the LFO 1 in the MultiLFO. LFO 1 can be set to different waveforms and it features a built-in S&H that can be triggered using the HardSync input. I'm using it to control the pitch of oscillator, the frequency of LFO 2 and 3, and some other misc parameters.
- The main clock signal comes from the square output of the LFO 3 (MultiLFO).
- The Expert Sleepers is being used as a wave-folder.
- LFO 2 controls the amount of wave-folding as well as the frequency of the Aether's internal LFO.

It's interesting to notice how the main rhythm comes from the LFO 1 which is basically using a S&H to extract somewhat-repeatable voltage patterns from the LFO itself.

Although its fairly easy to get weird stuff from this patch, I actually managed to cut and edit some loops from it. Download them for free at http://cloud.spektroaudio.com/1hoUh

A bit more about the VBrazil modules:
The VBrazil modules are designed and assembled by Vinicius Brazil, an engineer from Rio de Janeiro / Brazil.
The Aether Oscillator is a hybrid VCO: it generates analog waveforms (Sine / Triangle / Saw / Square / Sub 1 / Sub 2) and it features a built-in digital LFO that can be use for FM and PWM. The LFO can be set to different waveforms including some stepped ones.
The MultiLFO is a triple LFO. LFO 1 is a digital LFO with multiple waveforms, a built-in S&H, hard sync, and phase / symmetry control. LFOs 2 and 3 are analog and the waveform can be set ramp, triangle or sawtooth via the symmetry knob. LFOs 2 and 3 also have square outputs with adjustable pulse-width that can also be adjusted via the symmetry knob.

Thanks for watching! :)"

A Demo of the Moog Minifooger Analog Delay using a song. This demonstrates how you can use the "Time" control to modulate the sound.

The Delay is used both on the main synth part (played with a DSI Prophet 08 module) and the vocal part. Vocals are also run through a chorus effect. Bass is played using a Moog Minitaur run through a Boss OS-2 pedal. Beat created and sequenced with the Elektron Machinedrum.
