Sequencing the Synth Kit with the KORG SQ-1

"To connect the SQ-1's littleBits OUT jack with the littleBits Synth Kit without the CV module, you'll need the littleBits Proto module and a mini-monaural cable.

1) Strip some insulation from the mini-monaural cable.

2) As shown in the illustration to the right, fasten the core and shield of the cable to the terminal screw of the Proto module.

3) Of the Proto module's three jumpers, remove the middle jumper.

4) Set up the littleBits circuit (one example is shown to the right), and connect the Proto module's mini-monaural cable to the SQ-1's littleBits OUT jack.

5) Press the SQ-1's START/STOP button to make the littleBits Synth Kit start playing."

"All sounds in the music for this video are just guitar processed with Johnny, the only synths used were for bass and drums. The mix was done with a self imposed "no post processing" rule including no eq or compressors, in order to show how Johnny can be used in a musical context, with as raw of a tone as possible.

I've made the Auria project for this track available for download for anyone who wants to poke around with the mix and listen to the individual tracks to hear what Johnny is capable of.

Harmonic Tremolo modes create vintage phaser and univibe like tones, you can also modulate the rate of the main LFOs with a second LFO for interesting speed sweep effects.

Together with the Turing Machine, the intellijel uScale and another Sample & Hold (the Klangbau LogFn module in this case), I can get three quantized sequences playing at the same time. So cool!

Oberheim OB-8 polyphonic synthesizer

"Up for sale is a very nice and rare Oberheim OB-8 from 1983. The synthesizer is in full working order and sounds great. It has original factory installed MIDI interface. All 8 oscillators and all other parts of the synth work perfectly. The synthesizer has been professionally calibrated by a synth repair technician, so all 8 voices are perfectly in tune. The automatic oscillator tuning also works perfectly. All the potentiometers and switches are scratch free. All of the keys, knobs, buttons and lights work and none are broken or missing. The memory storage battery has also been replaced with a new battery so it will work again for a few 10 years. There is no corrosion or damage to the circuit board from the previous battery."
