Gazelle Twin in the Moog Sound Lab at Birmingham’s Supersonic Festival

via FACT Magazine

"Birmingham’s Supersonic Festival teamed up with the brilliant Moog Sound Lab this year to host a four-week artist residency where musicians could get their mitts grubby with analog sound-scaping, synthesis and effects using the iconic synth manufacturer’s gear.

Gazelle Twin, the Cronenberg-inspired persona of Brighton-based producer, composer and artist Elizabeth Bernholz, was among the artists let loose in the Moog Sound Lab at Birmingham City University – watch her unsettling performance with a hooded accomplice above."

New Ninstrument Sammich SID Eurorack Module

via Ninstrument

"With most of my time being spent in euro these days I was missing some SID sounds. Yes I know there is a SID module out there, but I was missing Sammich, so I eurofied it! Conversion took a little bit of doing and some modifications were necessary. The biggest being the extra row of LED’s on top for the CV/Gate conversion indicators, but other than that I now have Sammich in my eurorack!"

Roger Linn Interviewed by Sweetwater

Published on Jul 10, 2015 SweetwaterSound

"At GearFest '15, synthesizer pioneer Roger Linn sat down with Mitch Gallagher to talk music and electronic instruments. Technical Grammy award-winner Roger Linn invented the LM-1 Drum Computer (the first sample-based drum machine) in 1979. He later designed the Akai MPC60, which combined a sampling drum machine with a real-time MIDI sequencer. His guitar effects unit, AdrenaLinn, has been used on hit recordings by John Mayer and Red Hot Chili Peppers. In 2014 he released the LinnStrument, an expressive MIDI performance controller.

"The same model was used on Toto's Africa, Bruce Springsteen's Born in the USA, Brian Eno and Bangles's Chariot of Fire. AMAZING condition! Sorry, no cover lid or legs.

It also has custom midi and switch to turn off and on sub oscillator modulation (goes from pad to hard stutter filter and amp volume sound for example)."

bent.fm - Circuit Bent FM Synth for iOS Released

You might remember the "Lite" version here. The full version is now available on iTunes here: bent.fm - circuit bending - Mayank Sanganeria

"bent.fm is a full FM model of a circuit-bent synthesizer. bent.fm allows the user to tweak classic circuit bending modifications like fine and octave-decimated clock bends, and experiment with more esoteric bends. Circuit-bent distortions and algorithmic sequences can be created by (im)proper connections on the bend matrix. Reroute digital serial information through the base chip set (a numerically controlled oscillator) and extra logic gates (NAND and XOR, binary counters), and experience architecture-level bit crushing. For anyone interested in circuit bending, glitch sounds, industrial music, and post-procedural art.

Audiobus and IAA supported!"

Scarlatti - Sonata in C Major on a Roland Digital Harpsichord

Published on Jul 9, 2015 reeg2600

"In March, I bought a Roland Digital Harpsichord. Since then I've been completely blown away by how authentic the sound is -- down to the smallest detail. To capture that, I recorded a Sonata in C Major by Domenico Scarlatti (1685-1757) one of the 3 great composers of the Baroque era along with Bach and Handel. The performance has some flaws but the instrument sounds fantastic."

This one in via reeg2600 who wasn't sure if it qualified for a post. It's not a synth in the traditional sense, but it it is in essence a synth dedicated to reproducing a single real world instrument, so why not. It's reminder that synthesis goes beyond traditional synthesizers.
