Giorgio Moroder Soundpack for MiniNova

via Novation Music:

"This year we announced a very special product - the limited edition MoroderNova - with a custom look and Moroder-approved synth patches from his greatest productions. The entire run sold-out very quickly and so we thought it'd be fun to share some of the pre-loaded patches included on the synth for all of our MiniNova owners to own and enjoy.

We've selected 30 of the 51 patches to be available - all you need to do is make sure your device is registered and then you'll have access to the download area.

Future Sound Systems P.O.C.A. VAC1 demonstration

Published on Nov 5, 2015 Future Sound Systems

"This video demonstrates the workings of the new FSS VAC1 Passive Optically-Controlled Attenuator module."

via Future Sound Systems

"The Passive Optically-Controlled Attenuator, or P.O.C.A., is designed to give a set of vactrol-based gates in a compact-but-usable module. Its four gates can be set to act as low-pass-gates, or normal optically-controlled attenuators (for a "VCA" type action) via jumpers on the rear of the module. CV is normalled in a downwards fashion, so that control signals input to the top gate can effect the gate at the bottom. This is also true of the audio, but with a gate's output normalled to the next gate's input. This allows for steeper filtering slopes and sharper control. It is recommended, however, that only two gates are used per chain as external buffers may struggle with high impedance inputs. To summarise, the features of the P.O.C.A. VAC1 are:

-Quad optically-controlled attenuator module
-Jumpable LPG or VCA modes
-Normalling provides easy control and signal patching
-2mm thick fibreglass panel
-Sturdy but compact design and construction
-Hand assembled and tested by Finlay Shakespeare at FSS HQ in Bristol

Price: £70 + shipping, calculated upon checkout"

Make Noise's First Skiff

A little bit of synth history via makenoisemusic:

"6 years ago we built the first Skiff for a #eurorack #modularsynth. At the time Doepfer made most cases and they were designed to be played in vertical orientation. We desired a more ergonomic orientation for playing the Rene & Pressure Points. This Skiff was designed to set in front of the Doepfer P6 and actually tapped its power from it as well."

Ever since the K4815 Pattern Generator module was released to great praise in 2010 we have been planning a follow-up product that would take the Pattern Generator concept to a whole new level. After five years of planning and exploration we are proud to present: CARBON

CARBON offers several distinct and powerful functions that will change the way you compose and perform.

Sequencer
CARBON is primarily designed as a pattern-based sequencer. It has six tracks which can each hold 64 steps. Steps can be generated randomly, edited interactively, or recorded from a MIDI keyboard one step at a time, or in realtime while the sequencer is running. Polyphony and CC recording is supported so each step can contain chords or other performance data.

The fun begins once you've got some notes playing back on a track. Choose a region to play back, say, the first 8 steps. The track will play those same 8 steps over and over. Now move to another track and record a new sequence. This sequence can be a different length, or play back at a different speed. It can even play backwards while the other sequence plays forwards.

Remix with Patterns and Scenes!
The real power of CARBON is how variations of sequences can be made. By simply turning the PATTERN control, different steps in the sequence can be enabled and disabled. The patterns will surprise and inspire you by creating new rhythms and motifs with a simple twist of a knob. These are all based on your original sequence and can be changed at any time.

Adding in the concept of scenes lets you quickly switch between different parts of a song or different variations. Scenes can store the range of steps to play, the pattern, track mute state and a number of other parameters. Switching back and forth between scenes offers endless performance potential without ever missing a beat.

The best part of the CARBON sequencer is that all the recording and editing can be done in real-time without ever stopping the sequencer.

Ninstrument & DSP Synthesizers Sp-12 Drumulator Euromodule Seeks Funding on Indiegogo

You might remember the Ninstrument & DSP Synthesizers Sp-12 Drumulator eurorack module featured here. It's now on Indiegogo.

Details:

"A Blast from the past

Do you long for those great 80's drumsounds?
Want to include them in your eurorack setup?

Wait no more.
We put the SP-12 Drumulator into a eurorack module.

This is a joint venture between DSP Synthesizers in Sweden and Ninstrument.com in the US to put the great 8-bit u-law companding sounds on the map again.

The SP-12 euromodule gives you 8 trig-able polyphonic drumsounds, 6 of them tune-able with CV input in a 10HP euromodule.

It also got a 6dB Accent input and a mix audio output.

The sounds can be tuned into disintegration for some really gritty sounds.
All in a retro style powder coated 10HP aluminum panel.

Also available as a DIY assembly kit.

Larger scale manufacturing

We have done these in smaller runs with great success and now want to manufacture it on a larger scale.

The funding will go to manufacturing of a first run of 50 units.
Also into R&D for our next unit, The Latin Percussion T727 module.

Manufacturing 50 units means sourcing alot of parts, design and ordering PCB's etc. A large venture.

But can be realized with your help.

So let's get down to making some modules."

Grey Matter - Reaktor 6 - Experiment by Richard Devine

"GreyMatter - Big Kick Drum and created using the 'Machine Gun.ensemble' playing slow at 60 BPM, then layered with the 'Newscool.ens' for the clap in verb type sounds. Tiny snare and hi-hat made with the 'SineBeats2.ens'. The high spiral/phas'y noisy effects where all from two instances of the 'TG-8H' ensemble. The knocking wooden sounds in space are from Rick Scott's 'sampleThrasher_v1.ens'."
