Novation Celebrates 22 Year Anniversary of Original Bass Station with a Give Away Contest

via Novation:

"To celebrate the original Bass Station turning 22 years 8 months 17 days and 4 hours old*, we've decided to partner it up with its younger sibling and give them away together.

The original Bass Station is one of the most important releases in our history. It defined the start of what was to become an illustrious heritage of creating, what are now seen as, classic synths.

Fun, innovative, and no too derivative, Bass Station was just right. In the words of a well-known British Sound publication, "Bass Station wisely caters to the current need without being obsessive or anal about it" - nobody likes an anal synth.

Around 20 years after its release, the time came to have another go at creating a future classic, but staying true to the original idea. A fat, warm analogue slice of synth bread carefully buttered with a digital interface, Bass Station II is true analogue, but with near endless digital control and the ability to recall sounds remotely for the modern half-in-half-out-of-the-box producer. The one who still wants to use all of their synths at once in a Live session, but still turn the occasional knob. You know the type.

In the box, out the box, cardboard fish; this Bass Station combination is exactly what you need if you're looking to add fat and filthy analogue bass and 303-esque vibes but with unique, distinctly Novation characteristics.

Sign up for a chance to win. We just need to know who you are and grab an email address."

"If you're not familiar, this is a beast of a piece of gear. 3 CV-out, 3 GATE-out, 3 GATE-in, MIDI in and out and a TON of awesome realtime performance oriented functions. This unit is in MINT condition. I am the second owner and upon receiving this unit I was able to track down an updated EPROM for the latest OS. The newest, most current OS in installed, but I'll include the original EPROM and instructions just in case the existing EPROM would ever go bad or anything (see picture)."

"Up for auction is a 1981 Moog Source monophonic 2 oscillator analog synth with Encore Electronics MIDI retrofit kit installed. Synth is in very good condition, especially considering that it's 35 years old. There is a crack in the right wood panel that has been repaired, everything else including the front panel and membrane switches looks good and functions as expected. interior of the Source is clean with no PCB damage. Never gigged with, in a smoke free studio environment for the past 20 years."

Ginko Synthese SampleSlicer 12-Bit Eurorack Sampler Demo

"Video and Audio by G-Storm Electro c.2016

Demonstrating the Ginko Synthese SampleSlicer 12-Bit Eurorack Sampler. Yes 12-bit sampling, just like those old Akai S-900, S612 and MPC-60 samplers. I ordered it from Modular Addict and they shipped very quickly. This module required assembly and good soldering skills, and took me a couple of hours to build.

It uses an incoming clock to control sample recording and playback.

Recording: Control of sample length which controls how big or small the slices are. Input can be switched to audio or to record Control Voltages.

Playback: Realtime control of changes in sample length. Increasing length causes repeats, decreasing length chopped-off segments that run faster and can result in semi-granular type sounds. Also has realtime controls for pitch, start time, and length of the entire sample.

1:34 AUDIO sample of DNA doing weird things
2:45 MIXING together the sample and modulating the original audio
3:57 AUDIO sample of acoustic guitar from iPod (signal boosted by mixer).

Great module for glitch. My iPod signal was pretty weak so it needed to be boosted by a mixer, it handled my other module signals like a champ. Also, maybe in future versions it could include reverse sampling."
