"A studio recording in session. Preparing the last track for my forthcoming synth-pop album due february 2017.
I'm auditioning sounds for the track while multitracking as well. Tonight I was going through the sweet Roland classics JX-8P, Roland Alpha Juno 2 and the Roland Juno 6 for sounds. All analog classics.

This album will be a homage to all my childhood synth heros, bands and artists that've inspired me throughout the years.

Some of the tracks will be instrumental, but most of them will have vocals in various degree.

My tracks pay homage to all synth.pop acts of the 80'ies like Howard Jones, Depeche Mode, Pet Shop Boys, New Order, Thompson Twins, Tears for Fears, Ultravox, OMD, Euryhmics, Duran Duran, Giorgio Moroder, Jean Michel Jarre, Jan Hammer, A-ha and many more.

A use mostly old gear on my tracks and among them Roland Juno 6, Alpha Juno 2, D550 and JX-8P. Korg DW-8000. Roland TR-626 drum machine. Yamaha DX7 and TX802 and drum machine RX11. I use the Novation Mininova as a vocoder on all my tracks. Effects are usually handled by Strymon and TC electronics. Sampling is done on my E-MU ESI-4000 and I mostly use that for drums."

And one more minus the synth spotting:

The track is dominated by the Roland JX-8P analogue synthesizer from the mid 80'ies- About 70% of the sounds on this track is from it. The sweeping synths is the Roland Juno 2 and the drums is provided by the Roland TR-626. The arpeggiated sound in the beginning is the Roland Juno 6. It's arpeggiator is synced to MIDI clock.machine.
The main solo comes from the Novation MiniNova.

Espen Kraft Yamaha DX7 - two favorite patches, free download

"Live recording of me on the Yamaha DX7. I'm using two of my favourite patches in this imporovised song, The first is a flute-like patch once sourced from a Fairlight bank. It reminds me very much of something Jan Hammer used on the show Miami Vice on several occasions. The other patch is a analog sounding brass patch with good implemenatation of both velocity and after-touch. Both patches have some modifications done by me, but I will not take credit for their original origin.

You can download these two patches as sysex here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/bqnpheksev2...

I've also included three more patches in the zip-files."

Korg DW-8000 and Roland Juno 6 | Arpeggiator

"I have always wanted to make the score to some action-filled b-movie. Never got to do it, but the music I can make!

A kind of improvised performance and recording testing out the arpeggiators and sync of the Roland Juno 6 and Korg DW-8000. Played the melodic part with a Yamaha DX7. The DX can sound very warm and analoge in my opinion with careful programming. Used Strymon BigSky for the reverbs and a T.C. electronic Flashback for delays. Drums provided by Roland TR-626."

KORG DW-8000 synthesizer | Digital/Analog

Published on Jan 24, 2016

"Written and recorded with only the KORG DW8000 synthesizer providing all sounds except for drums.
The KORG DW8000 released in 1985 have two digital oscillators, and within one oscillator is the possibility to choose from 16 different digitally stored waveforms. The rest of the signal path is analog with VCF, VCA. The KORG DW8000 can sound very fat in unison mode."

Korg Poly-800 | Multitrack

Espen Kraft Published on Dec 9, 2015

"A song with an old analog synth, the KORG Poly-800. The Poly-800 was released in 1983 so it's quite old but it sounds lovely still. The track is entirely made with sounds from the Poly-800 except for the drums. Every track is recorded playing live into the DAW. There is no quantization done here.

Behringer Model D Analog Synthesizer Module Review

Published on Aug 9, 2017

"It's all there. Sweetwater's Daniel Fisher demonstrates the three punchy oscillators, classic 24dB/octave voltage-controlled filter with resonance, envelopes, LFO, portamento, and more. All instantly familiar — only smaller. The Behringer D is a Eurorack-sized reincarnation of the legendary analog monosynth that started it all. From fat pulsing basses to searing leads to celestial pads: the Behringer D puts a world of musical expression under your fingertips."

ROLAND SH-101 + KORG ER-1 ~ Will They Pair? Ep.21

once upon a synth
Published on Aug 9, 2017

"Pairing the Roland SH-101 with a Korg ER-1. The SH-101 is a vintage analog monophonic synthesizer from the 80s. The ER-1 is a digital drum machine from the 90s. Together they ooze vintage 90s techno/house vibes which I explore in this video. I'm largely using preset patterns on the ER-1. The ER-1 is outputting MIDI clock which I then convert into CV and feed into the clock input of the SH-101 to synchronize the sequencer. The SH-101 is then run through the ER-1 via its external audio input."

Kebu - Roland SE-02 Demo

"I was fortunate to get my hands on (at the time) Scandinavia's only Roland SE-02 synth for a few days. So I took some time to try it out and hooked it up to a Boss RV-500 reverb unit. It's a really lovely sounding analog synth!

The sounds were recorded straight from the SE-02, through the RV-500. No additional processing was used (except for some EQ where mentioned)."
