Pioneer Introduces the DJS-1000 Stand-alone DJ Sampler

Published on Oct 17, 2017 Pioneer DJ

"Meet the DJS-1000 stand-alone DJ sampler – Intuitive DJ-friendly interface and powerful performance features for improvising unique sounds and phrases.

Many of today’s professional DJs use electronic instruments and production gear in their live sets to help make their performances creative and unique. With an easy-to-use interface, 16 multicoloured step input keys, 16 multicoloured Performance Pads, a host of inputs and outputs, plus various other performance features, the DJS-1000 is the ideal musical instrument to take into the booth and propel your sets to the next level.

Add the DJS-1000 to your DJ set-up and you can intuitively create unique sounds and phrases in advance of your set, or on the fly, then sequence and loop them as you wish. Improvise a new groove by syncing and mixing with tracks playing on other equipment such as CDJs using the Beat Sync, tempo slider and nudge features. At a glance, the 7-inch full-colour touch screen gives you all the information you need to perform, thanks to easily recognisable sequence patterns and instrument icons assigned to the Performance Pads.

Other features installed on the DJS-1000 include Live Sampling, which enables you to easily sample input sounds and immediately use them as independent tracks or as FX to add to your mix.

The DJS-1000 will be available from mid-October 2017."

Rhino - FM Synthesizer using Arduino and Max Msp

Published on Oct 18, 2017

Googlish:

"This project was done within the framework of the Electronic Music Instruments course of the Department of Music Engineering of Technology and Acoustics.

It is a synthesizer based on the idea of Theremin in how to interact with the user, while in terms of its sound coloring it is based on the Frequency Modulation Synthesis technique.

The user, by moving the hand, controls a sequence of notes as a progression of a music scale he chooses. While at the same time it can regulate the spectral content by manipulating the potentiometers. The sound effect it generates is based on the reasons for its harmonicity and the effect it will choose to accompany the basic sound generator. The purpose is to give the user the freedom to shape the instrument's complexion with a variety of combinations by experimenting with the controller.

For construction I used an Arduino Mega 2560, and the Ultrasonic Sensor HC-SR04 motion sensor.

The sound generator was programmed into Max Msp's environment. "

"This jam is one of my current tracks in progress for a live set I've been building. This will be a small 3/4 song set, aimed for open mics and small starter shows.

My main focus is live playing, I want my keyboard playing to create the main changes and atmopshere in the performance. I'll be sharing my other tracks very soon so keep a ear out."
