Connections in this video:
KeyStep MIDI OUT --- 60Knobs MIDI IN
60Knobs MIDI OUT --- MIDI/Audio to USB Interface
Interface --- Apple USB Camera Connection Kit
CCK --- iPad

The 60Knobs merges the MIDI data form the KeyStep with its own and sends everything to the iPad's AUM app via the MIDI-to-USB interface.

If your interface also does audio-to-USB, like my Zoom U-24, then you can also feed audio in and out of the iPad, mixing it with effects and virtual instruments.

Apps used in this video:
- Kymatica AUM
- BeepStreet Sunrizer
- Holderness Madia Crystalline
- Bram Bos Kosmonaut"

Jim's Memorymoog Restoration (by Synthpro)

Published on Apr 4, 2018 synthpro

"Hey Guys,

This is a video I made for the owner of this Memorymoog but all are free to watch.

This unit was very sick when it came into my shop but it now has a full bill of health.

Repalced all common failure components as well as upgraded circuits and replaced calibration trimmers for a much more accurate calibration."

via the seller: "This synth sounds like it's been just out of the factory! Everything has been calibrated, tested and cleaned. I personally used it for a couple of months, so you can be sure that everything is working flawlessly. I decided to include in this auction 8 octave divider chips (5824) because it's the only rare chips that has been used in this synth. All other components are easily found today, so this PS-3100 will last a long long time!"

Strange Envelopes: Pitch Envelopes for Slurs and Glissandi

Published on Apr 4, 2018 MAKEN0ISE

"Allen Strange wrote the book on modular synthesizers in the 1970s. Electronic Music: Systems, Techniques, and Controls. Unfortunately since the expanded 1982 edition, it has never been reprinted, and in today’s landscape where more people have access to modular synths than ever before, very few have access to the knowledge contained within. This video series will explore patches both basic and advanced from Strange’s text. Even the simplest patches here yield kernels of knowledge that can be expanded upon in infinite ways. I have been heavily influenced by Strange since long before I became a modular synth educator. Please share this knowledge far and wide.

This video shows using envelopes for pitch rather than amplitude, using the "keyboard" of Pressure Points for amplitude instead: a reversal of the most typical patch. The result is variable-volume slurs, which can be changed to glissandi by patching a sample and hold in series."

Hardware vs Software Synth Showdown with Woody & Espen Craft

Published on Apr 4, 2018 Espen Kraft

"Woody from the excellent channel "Woody Piano Shack" has thrown down the gauntlet! He's challenged me to make an original piece of music using my old hardware synths from the 80s which he will then try to recreate using software and emulations. In the box.

As I gladly accept these kinds of challenges, I've cooked up a track I think he'll enjoy recreating.
You can too as I've included the live stems for the track here:
https://drive.google.com/open?id=1OjT...

For my version I've used the following gear:

Yamaha RX11 - Drums
Roland D-550 - Pads
Roland Juno 2 - Synth Guitar
Roland JX-8P - Poly synth
Roland Juno 6 - Bass (sampled in S-10 for MIDI sequencing)
Yamaha DX7 - Fairlight Flutes and Italo Poly synth
Yamaha TX802 - PPG Digital Guitar Bells
Elka EK22 - Synth bells

I play live on top of the sequenced synths controlled by the Roland MC50 sequencer."

Espen Kraft hardware vs software SYNTH SHOWDOWN!

Published on Apr 14, 2018 Woody Piano Shack

"Here's the result of the hardware versus software synthesizer showdown! in this video I'll share the track created using just free software VST plugins and Reaper DAW.

To recap, Espen Kraft composed and created a track on his vintage hardware synthesizers and drum machines .The challenge was for me to re-create it using just software."

Turing-A-Ding-Dong (modular synth jam)

Published on Apr 4, 2018 Little Bitchard

"Got myself a Turing Machine mk2 with Volts & Pulses expanders a good while back, so here's a long overdue test drive. Also I need to clear the patch and am (once again) saving it this way ;)

The audio on this video is slightly late compared to video and you can see the amount of offset when I patch in the hihats at around 45s (the bright yellow module with blue knob). For some reason my camera rig (iPhone 5) made a mess of the audio and I had to correct it afterwards. Can't be bothered to fix it better, sorry!

Gear-wise it's Turing Machine mk2 & Flame Clockwork running the show, triggering percussion, chord and envelope generators. Few of the trigger outputs are combined through Doepfer A166 logic module eg. to have "relaxed" and "intense" variations for the kick drum.

Percussion sounds are from my modified DSPSynth Drum8 (custom diy Linn Drum soundset), bass from TTSH with melody "sequenced" from Xaoc Batumi (= square wave ;), chords from Qu-Bit Chord with melody sequenced from Volts and quantized with Penrose Quantizer.

Chord audio is split parallel to lowpass filter and spring reverb of TTSH and to lowpass filter (Dtech VCF) and delay effect on iPad (Master FX app). TTSH spring reverb is chained to mono, with left channel feeding to hipass filter (BF22) feeding right channel to bandpass filter (Polivoks VCF 2).

Uhh I guess that covers most of it. Using some CV mixers, attenuators and VCAs of course.
