Abandon all hope ye who enter here

Published on Aug 2, 2018 Audio Illustrator

A new piece from supporting MATRIXSYNTH member, James Newman.

"Audio illustrator James Newman and the James Newman Cinematic Orchestra are pleased to present 'Abandon all hope ye who enter here'.

"Through me you pass into the city of woe:
Through me you pass into eternal pain:
Through me among the people lost for aye.

Justice the founder of my fabric mov'd:
To rear me was the task of power divine,
Supremest wisdom, and primeval love.

Before me things create were none, save things
Eternal, and eternal I endure.
All hope abandon ye who enter here."

From "The Divine Comedy" by Dante Alighieri.

I don't think I've seen the PowerSounds sticker before. I actually bought a brand new K5000S and it did not have the sticker on it. Guessing these were later models with new patches.

"Inside the base plate is signed 'Julia 12-16-81', so I probably bought it (new) in early '82. I've only used it at home and it's been stored in the loft for some years. It's in excellent cosmetic condition, apart from a couple of odd nicks on the end cheeks and baseplate shown in the photos. There was very little dust inside when I opened it up. I've cleaned and lubricated the keyboard as best I can, cleaned the J-wires and bus bars, treated the switches and pots with contact cleaner and beeswaxed the wooden end panels. I haven't replaced the keyboard bushings so the action is a bit clicky. Everything seems fine although the Osc A Pulse Width knob is a bit scratchy in places. I don't have the equipment to test the CV/Gate ins and outs."

Endorphin.es Grand Terminal *In depth Eurorack demo & tutorial*

Published on Aug 6, 2018 DivKidVideo

"Here's the Grand Terminal from Endorphin.es and here's my in depth demo of it. I would like to stress that although this is a long, in depth video showing a lot of the uses of the module all the basic functionality and great sound is covered right on the faceplate. It's two function generators, two filters and an FX engine. Simple to use but there's a lot of complexity and digital control in a one level menu that's accessed with button holds. This stops the module being twice the HP size it is, keeps all the key controls at the front but also allows you to set the module up exactly how you want (it saves all the settings automatically on power down / power up) and then make use of all it can offer.

The Grand Terminal makes use of zero delay filters and recent DSP developments in virtual analogue filter design. This DSP can be found in products such as the U-He Diva and there's some resources for those interested below.

ZERO DELAY FILTERS & DSP DEVELOPMENTS.

Quote from Endorphines - "with recent V2 Airways GT update, almost all GT filter types obtained so-called zero-delay nature, Zero-delay filters are recent (well, since probably 5 years) DSP researches present in quality virtual analog synths as U-he Diva or Reaktor Blocks and many more."

"The reason these filters are so interesting (and titled Virtual Analog) is that they mathematically preserve the original analog filter topology, including (in most cases) zero-delay loops" (c) http://www.willpirkle.com/Downloads/A...
